OT: Evapo-Rust?

Hey guys,

I happen to come have across 2 fine, hand-dished shield bosses. Unfortunately, they were a little old and quite heavily rusted on the surface.

I heard all the talk 'bout u guys using Evapo-Rust (sp?) for restoring all your Antique AC Kardas. Would it work for these Shield Bosses? Any idea if this stuff is available down here in The Merry Land of OZ (Australia)? If not, is there any similar product available here?

Where can I get it?

and steel wool or brass brush, depending on the level of scale on the stuff.

I've recently been impressed with the performance od certain aluminum oxide cleaners/posihes/rust inhibitors. United Cutlery makes it, AC sells it. You can find it a knife and gunn shows as well, but i bet there aint many gun/knife shows in Aussie land (OZ) these days.

BTW, center boss on a 18-26 inch diameter shield is the was to go! I've done 5 yrs MA w/shields, and the viking center boss method is the most effective and safest, IMHO. there are some wonderful tricks and tips on its use that give it a great advantage over the standard strap-on-arm+handle variant.

Don't forget to use rust-oleum or some other rust inhibitor in the dished side.
