I recently picked up a Jarvenpaa Puukko from Dan Koster. This is a great little knife!

I've been on vacation for the last couple of weeks and my daughter and I have been doing a lot of fishing. I've used the Puukko to do everything from cutting bait to whittling and its' handiness and performance has really impressed me. A light stropping after every use has brought it right back to shaving sharp. I have no clue what the steel is but I like it.

The dangler sheath is very functional also. It holds the knife securely, and tucks neatly into the front pocket of my jeans.

I might have to accquire another one of these. It's a helluva knife for $25. Thanks Dan! :D

Esav - I have wanted that combo set for a long time....guess I should just get one...or make one....anyway...thanks for the reminder.

stilgar - great lil' knife, ain't it?

Ole Sarge (Sylvrfalcn) loved puukkos (as do I - the first knife I made was a puukko). I have had as many as a dozen kicking around here. Just used one this afternoon to break down some cardboard boxes. Gotta love that Nordic steel!

I like Scandinavian knives generally, and Finnish knives specifically.

Here's a couple of my favorites: Iisakki Järvenpää Puukko and Leuku Combination.
Esav I have that very combination and love it!!!! And they don't skimp on the pretty Curly Birch either, mine are absolutely lovely with the Leuko edging it out over the Puukko. The Puukko is quite beautiful on one side and merely beautiful on the other.;) :D
And that sheath/scabbard is a masterpiece in and of itself!!!! :D

Beautiful blades. I've always wanted a Puuko myself. Now that I've seen Iisakki Järvenpää Puukko and Leuku Combination I have a reason to do so.
