OT: Found it. University experiment on Prison behaviors

My wife remembered this one. Though I believe you can transform a normal person into a beast- see Nazi Germany- I'm less impressed with a study that had paid volunteers. Paid to act out. And under the setting of research, the limits of behavior would be high- a license. "It wasn't me man- I was under a research project."

I beleive it - once you get that us vs them "team spirit" going, be it small groups or nations, most morality is out the window.

There was a movie made along the same lines, it was pretty good.

Thanks for posting that, Kis. Psychology was my major in college, and i remember spending several weeks on that experiment in behavior theory and social psych. Its a real shame that that kind of psychological study can no longer be duplicated or practiced. I'm all for ethical treatment of people, but d@mn is it interesting to see how people reacted to social pressure. Thanks again.

"What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust? Man delights not me; no, nor woman neither, though by your smiling you seem to say so."
