The Extreme model looks like a decent walk around gun.

Does anybody have any experience with this long arm?

I went to the website and they say all rifles are unavailable.....they look AWESOME though, would love to have one

UNavailable. DDarn it.
Wonder if there are any on the market...with dealers and such...

looks like a tough rifle.

Well I emailed them...we'll see what they say.

MAybe one of their distirbutors has one laying around.

I'll let you know what I find out.

I've heard about some fit and finish problems with those. I would check out this guy http://www.scoutman308.com/

I'm getting a brown one. Proven action, 10 rounds, great optic options. Reloads off a stripper clip.

The O-ficial answer from Gibbs is at least a couple of years due to importation time.

I first saw this rifle in a recent Gun Annual....wonder how it got in there when the company can't fill any orders?
Oh well...

Unfortunately gun companies often post new gun months or even years before the public can get them. That way theu build up pre orders from the distributors. It's a shame. The big distributors have ruined the gun business.

Do not despair. There are Gibbs rifles floating around out there.

I have handled them, but never shot one. I love the rifle, but did not purchase one b/c they do not have a left hand action. :grumpy:

Guys, there are five of them on the site I posted a link to, including one of the .45-70s. Just enter the word "Gibbs" in their search engine... :p

scoutman & Gibbs rifles look quite nice, maybe you should consider a Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine? or do you want something more modern?

Yesterday I handled a 45-70 Gibbs. Very nice package. I really liked it. The price was $385 at the Franklin Gun Shop, but I do not know if it was used or not.

I would be wanting one if they were made in left hand.

Well...

I was hoping to find a rifle, and keep it in the $300 range.

I was happy with the Gibbs because it was in a modern caliber and if I understood it, was a really solid outfit.

I am a south paw, but learned to shoot aright hand bolt proficiently, not unlike the sniper in Saving Private Ryan. H

NOw I aM HAUNTING MY LOCAl pawn shops for an old Remington or Savage. Left hand bolt would be nice... but the price is right.

A new Ram Line Stock, bedding job and maybe an extended mag would take care of everything but the sight option. I have a 2X7 Luepold compact...good optics...so then it should be done. Ready to hunt with anyway.

those gibbs look like cleaned up Lee-enfields... 303 is a lot of gun to be toting around for a walk in the woods. Both Rifle and Ammo tend to get heavy. If you can't get the Gibbs, as the other gentleman said, Lee enfields can still be had... and usually for cheap.

If you need a left hand, buy a left hand. You can get a new Savage in left hand in most of their rifles for a decent price. They are not pretty, but make some extremeley accurate and durable rifles.

BTW, they have the scout model with EER scope mount and synthetic/plast stock. It is set up just like any Gibbs.

If you like Remington you can sometimes find the Model 788's in left hand. These were good rifles, and were accurate. They also have a detachable magazine, but the mags are about $40 apiece now, I think.

If you have never had a left hand bolt that fits you hold out for one. It will be worth the wait. I do not buy a right hand bolt anymore.

Have you considered any of the numerous Marlin lever's that are out now? They make some excellent rifles, if you like a lever. They are also, IMO, much faster than any bolt.

Let us know what you decide.
