I've always worried about that. (big surprise- me worry?) Guy or guys break into your home. They're cranked or something, and you hold them at bay with a sidearm. You say, wait until the police come. Then they turn their backs and walk out of the house.
Now, if I shoot them in the back- I'm going to jail for murder. I can't hold them legally, because that's imprisonment or something.
In fact, if one of them grabbed a tv on his way out, what could I do legally?
Do you know what a system like this produces? A judicial system so ignorant and caught up in it's quest for 'absolute rights' that it has tied the hands of honest folks? For one thing, the people get a little crazy. I'm not kidding- that's a classic 'schizophrenigenic ' cue; a mixed message. Like telling someone you love them and then kicking them in the shins as hard as you can. People can't act or think rationally with this type of society and legal system.
And the second thing, of course, is that it promotes the idea that it would be better for you to simply kill the men as they stand in your home facing you.
That is the end product of bad law.
Every once in awhile I say something that is horrifying in its truthfulness and this is one of them.
