Folks:

Does anyone know any good places to eat in Dallas? I've spent a fair amount of time there over the years, and was never impressed with the chow on offer. Anyway, it looks like another stint there is on the agenda so good eats will be welcome. I'll be downtown, but will have a car.

Thanks,

S.

Been too long since I've spent time in Dallas but steaks and Mexican food shouldn't be a problem.

DFW area is supposed to have the most restaurants per capita in the US, you should be able to find something. Don't tell anyone you're from WDC, that might help LOL. Let me know what you are looking to eat and I can give some suggestions, here or email.

Fogo de Chao
Address: 4300 Belt Line Road
Addison, TX 75244
Telephone: 972-503-7300

Brazilian restaurant with some of the best food I've eaten in a while. They serve it Gaucho style, which means that there's no menu, the waiters wander around with big swords of different types of beef, sausage, poultry, etc. You have a little disc that's green on one side and red on the other. When you want more, turn the green side up and they'll parade by. Turn the red side up when you need a break.

Here's a review:
"Fogo de Chao, the beef lover's paradise, reopened its doors in January following extensive renovation. To accommodate the crowds, they've added a spacious waiting area next to the full bar, complete with leather chairs and a cozy fireplace.

The new, expanded wine cellar holds nearly 2,000 bottles of wine, while the elegant salad bar is a feast of fresh cut salads and vegetables, including hearts of palm, jumbo asparagus, smoked salmon, prosciutto of parma and much more.

Of course, some things stay the same, such as the restaurant's traditional Gaucho way of preparing meat. Part of Fogo de Chao's appeal is in its unique style of service; a trained staff of Gauchos prepare, cook and serve a selection of beef, poultry, pork and lamb, parading through the dining room with their swords to serve this Southern Brazilian cuisine.

Find out what the buzz is all about by visiting the restaurant yourself; you'll find it at 4300 Belt Line Road in Addison. For more information, call 972-509-7300."

Highly recommended.

I've lived in the Dallas area for 15 years or so now. Am most familiar with places on the north side of town (North Dallas, Richardson, Addison and Plano). What kind of food do you like ? We gots lots of choices :D

Second the recommendation for Fogo de Chao if you're in the mood for a huge feed (and a plate with just meat on it for most of the meal). Just one of the many high-$$$ restaurants that I don't get to much. Also III Forks, Bob's Steak and Chop House, Love & War in Texas, Enchilada's on Greenville Avenue.

Thanks, gents.

I've been in heads-down mode since we're up against our deadline. Dinners this week have mostly been Power Bars and office coffee. But, I will make it out at some point.

I'd forgotten that there was a Fogo in Dallas. Good call.

I eat pretty much anything, especially Indian, SE Asian and Mexican. Though steak and barbecue work, too. Especially the latter.

If anyone has additional suggestions, thanks in advance.
