OT-Is there a solution to Iraq?

Recently an acquaitance was whining,gnashing his teeth,pulling his hair,rolling his eyes, and generally moaning that there was just no solution to our problems with the Radical Muslims and Iraq.

I,of course, totally disagreed with his parotting the laments of the liberal media and said that there were several magnificient and simple solutions.

With a bewildered look, he asked how I could make such a bizzare statement. My response was that it was too simple for most people to see and way too easy to accomplish.

If I were Bush, here's a few of the things I would start:

1-Issue a public proclamation to all Citizens of Iraq that American Forces would be staying in Iraq until the sale of oil had paid the total cost of the war including interest.

2-That for each and every coalition soldier or civilian killed or severely injured from the start of the war, one million dollars from oil sales,would go to that man's next of kin --as a kind of insurance policy.

3- For each coalition member killed or severely injured in a terrorist attack our forces would remain for an additional week.

4-A bounty of $2,500.00 dollars would be paid on the head of every foreigner caught within the nation's borders with out proper credentials.

5-All Iraqi families would be restricted to one child and no more. After having their alloted quota, both men and women would be sterlized.

6- All young men over the age of 18 found wandering idly about the streets or participating in street demonstrations would be immediately arrested and placed in national service and paid $1.00 per day.

7-Form a new American "Department of Foreign Law Enforcement"--call it what you wish. Staff it with young American men and women(kinda like the Piece Corp). Train them for 6 weeks at FLETC (the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) and assign them to foreign service for a 1 year period with a 3 month rotation back to the states then a return to their foreign posts of duty. Each of these officers would be accompanied by a counterpart from the area and they would hit the streets winning the minds and hearts of the people. :D
 
If an effective solution should ever be advanced, it will

a) either be rejected as not invented here
or
b) mangled beyond recognition by our "congress critters" before implementation.
 
I don't believe the majority of Americans have the stomach to do what is necessary to win a war.

Perhaps when the next 9-11 occurs that will change somewhat.

you have some excellent ideas, I think those financial incentives are an excellent way to jumpstart that country, However, some are more realistic than others. Like the $1,000,000 thing, terrorists don't care, it would give them fuel to call Americans thieves and would probably encourage more suicide bombings. Just a thought.

This idea is nuts.
In my opinion this is nothing to make jokes about - sounds like Morgenthau or the Nazis themselves...

I agree with Andreas; let's be nice to each other. No one's sterilizing any one.

I wish life were as simple as nuke them all, 'it's only for the oil', Bush lied, etc etc.

This situation might surprise us. Good things can and do still happen in the world. I'm not going to weigh in on this thread, but let's not stop looking for miracles and life to emerge out of Man's contant fumbling.

It might be better to say an idea, instead of a person (member) was nuts.

Incidentally, that sterilization idea is nuts.

Maybe I was a bit overreacting to this post - but during my days at the university I did some research in the archive of a local (Bayreuth) school. There was evidence that in this "Hilfsschule" (school for backward children) during the Nazi-time the teachers "tested" the intelligence of pupils when they were twelve years. When this test (not standartized and "homemade" - some children were sent to this school for being asocial or because their parents were not in line with the regime) was not sufficient they sterilized the kids. Alone in a mid-sized city like Bayreuth they sterilized 1.100 persons, some were murdered later during the T4 programme that was meant to kill "life that was not worth to live". They never had a lobby and did not receive anything after the war. I slept not very well after working in this archive and following several "cases".
- so this was it was made me angry - some of the other ideas do not seem to be very good too... Iraq is a mess. It was meant to do a good thing and it is I think - but there is no way to stay "clean" in a war covered by today´s media. Let´s hope the best.

What I thought of was the Chinese Govt sterilizing it's own people and those of occupied nations.

On a lighter note, I've been sterilized.

Just because the Chinese do it it does not quit to be a crime - but I guess I just emotionally mixed the things up a bit. The "euthanasia"-Programme of the nazis was another thing of course...

If someone is interested in one of the cases I can send scans of documents or a Presentation (Powerpoint) that I did for my lessons. It covers one "case" of Rosa K. (the names are of course under a big black bar....)

Pan, I mentioned the Chinese because it is criminal and it is still going on. When you speak of Nazis some folks think that's all in the past and can't happen anymore.

The Nazi's had a breeding program. SS Officers were brought in to do their part with female's selected for their genetic 'purity'. The babies didn't know who their parents were and were being raised by the State.

There shouldn't be forced sterilization for anyone. It was something else done to a lot of ndns. It's always easier when it's the other guy, but when it hits close to home you might be changing your mind.:( :grumpy:

The hell of it is is that it's all a whole helluva lot more complicated than any of us realize and none of us have the complete knowledge needed to make such decisions, only ideas, and as has been expressed some of them are nuts.;)
Hell, it's even been shown that our president, like him or not, was given erroneous and old information on Iraq.
There's not a doubt in my mind that there are WMD in Syria. And look out this summer. It ain't over yet gang.:(
 
I read that there was speculation that Iran was using Chalabi to funnel false intelligence to the US since they knew Bush was a war monger anyway so that the US would invade Iraq and take out Iran's most deadly enemy without Iran having to do it. That way a more friendly Shiite gov't would be installed in Iraq that would not pose a threat to Iran. Pretty sweet idea. Get "the great Satan" to do their bidding. ;)

How about just giving all males a teeny weeny(pun intended) reversible vasectomy-- prior to reaching puberty --would that be so bad.These numbnuts could be reversed by a doctor when the newly wed --bride and groom --received their license to procreate from the State.

In keeping with the wide held belief that "dissatisfaction is the basis for ALL change," and that pain and/or fear are the prime motivators instigating behavioral change in humans,then I can see no way to get a culture to modify it's nature other than by pain or fear.

Seymore Hersh, noted member of the staff of New Yorker Magazine, recently stated that the American Judeo/Christian culture is best manipulated by Guilt and that the Muslin/Arab culture is best manipulated by Shame.

This belief by Sy, is substaniated by our media attempting to keep us in a constant state of quilt. Such as paying reparations to certain supposedly oppressed minorities, to political correctness and restrictions against profiling.

Now to keep the topic in alignment with the purpose of this forum, I propose the vasectomies be performed with a Baby Dui Chirra or a UBBBB especial.

That "Lebensborn"-project you mention is still a little mystery. Historians do not know if it was working on a larger scale during the last years of the war or not. Lebensborn was a project to raise ("aryan") children of women that were not married but had kids born for the "Fuehrer" Hitler. In the occupied countries of Scandinavia there were many children in "Lebensborn-houses" born from local women who had affairs with German soldiers. After the war it must have been like hell for them.

The sterilization-thing has a long history. the Nazis did it, Sweden did it to mongoloids until the seventies, it was done to aborigines in Australia and to ndns (is it pc to write it like this?) in America.

Every SS-man had "the duty" to "produce at least four children. At the end of the war Himmler wanted to introduce polygamy (or better polygynie) among the SS because it was clear that because of the war the number of births dropped.
My grandpa was from the Sudeten territory (Czech border) and when the Nazis occupied the territory in 1938 his boss (who was Jewish) fled to Budapest. So my grandfather was out of work, joined the Waffen-SS and was granted to be a police or postal-service officer after four years of duty. I think he really was a nazi then and he really regretted it and was in grief about it when he died some years ago - but it cost them a whole pig to "pay" the corrupt SS-doctor who measured my grandma three centimeters higher than she was - so they could marry.
These rules for marrying a SS-man made my grandma antifascist. Grandpa had to fight WWII from the first to the last day - and lost fascism somewhere between the Ardennes and the Balaton.
