There was a Cold Steel Hudson Bay scalper on ebay that I jumped on right away. I thought I'd put a high enough max on it that nobody would take it from me. Checked in with five minutes to go and everything was good. Somebody snagged it from me in the last 20 seconds of the auction. :(
I've been looking for one forever!

Okay, I feel better now...
:D

I have had that done to me on this forum right here. Miss what you been waiting for by seconds. It gets aggravating after a while. I think I am going to have to go ahead and order from the store page.:)

"Somebody snagged it from me in the last 20 seconds of the auction."

It's called sniping.

Takes attention & a quick mouse,

OR

auction bidding software

I use AuctionMagic for Ebay bids.

http://www.pctechzone.com/auctionmagic/index.html

I haven't tried any other software,
but have found this one acceptable.
The Snipe module is the part of the package I really use.
Decide on the max bid you want to make on an item
& the software makes the bid for you in the last few seconds
(user definable time).
This module also -monitors- ongoing bids on items of interest.
& stays synched to Ebay time.

If you really want something on ebay, you have to stay tuned through the last minutes of bidding. That can force you to set the alarm clock to get up in the middle of the night in some instances. Or you can place a larger max bid and be ready to pay it if the sniping commences.

Thanks for the link, ddean. :)

It's one of those things where I really did know better...I mean, I had intentionally checked it in those last minutes, but there was just zero activity on it for so long that I figured I was safe. Friend of mine called, and I got to talking and not watching.

Oh well, the search begins anew...

Ben, as far as bidding maxes go, I'd bid far more than twice what they ever sold for...I thought I was safe! :D

Would you have rather won at twice what they go for? Lost on a possible khuk yesterday. Didn't snipe quite high enough.

Brian

Yep! :) Twice what they originally went for only totals about $50.00.. They're easily worth that performance-wise. Actually, I think they're some of the better deals Cold Steel ever offered. Thin, flat-ground Carbon V (0-1) for about $19.00. I used to have one, but I lost it. I should have bought five. :grumpy:

I have one.:D
It's got a beautiful blue beaded handle with a couple of rows of white arond the top and bottom.
Beaded handles are extremely nice and they last a mighty long time and give a magnificant grip wet or dry, even with blood.
The ndn trick is that you have to seal the beadwork with varnish.
I bought it new and since I have gought several of the Red River knive blades in the other style.
I really like mine.
One of the kardas I made for my 18" AK is made from one.:D

No, it is Not for sale!!!!

works for me, free, no downloading anything.
So, why do they offer the service,
That's a lot of hardware & bandwidth to dedicate
to a free service.
Makes me Wonder.
Hmmmmmm.........

Maybe they hope to become a pay service once established.
Couldn't find an answer on the site.

Adware, or Spyware, ....
That was my first thought,
but as mentioned there's no download.
You work off the website apparently,
and the site stores the data.

Fortunately, if that were it, there are several
spyware/adware killers available.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'm going to have to become a more ruthless bidder.
