Take a look at the latest National Geographic. It has an interesting article about the maoists in Nepal. Unfortunatly, it reads a lot like a Viet Nam history-extreme poverty combined with heavy handed local officials drive the revolution, but the maoists themselves are quick to disavow their own bloody violence as isolated mistakes. Nobody is clean, and those that are affected the most are those just trying to get by.Like I said, it all sounds familiar, but its news from a remote place in the world we have all come to care about.
