Flame and bird's eye maple top on an alder body. I finished it with Tru Oil and then Minwax wipe-on poly for hardness, followed by carnauba wax (BC Gunstock wax). These pics are just with the Tru-Oil. I'll likely do the hardware up in black.

What do you think?

Nice job. I am studying some to be a luthier myself. I have assembled a strat copy from parts and am doing an acoustic from a kit now. I am going to study with Willian Cumpiano in November. Check out his website, you will have to do a search maybe, but I think it is just www.cumpiano.com.

:) Nice....pretty piece of wood & a great finish. How does it balance? I've been thinking about building a Tele out of parts. If I do, I'd like to hope it would look half that good.

Phil, did you refinish that guitar, or make that guitar?

If you refinished it; great job. If you made that guitar, I'm awed.

I see something like that and my mind doesn't quite function properly.

I want that guitar and I can't even play the things. Very nice.

I bought the body on Ebay from people with the skill and tools needed to make it, and did all the sanding and finishing myself. This is a do-it-yourself kind of like building a street rod. I have learned a lot about sanding and finishing so far.
