Just got a 2002 Cadillac Eldorado with 18k miles and a full fatcory warranty! All black inside and out. Incredible car. It is the ETC version with the higher 300 horsepower 32 valve Northstar engine. Very fast and smooth.
Also has the Onstar system with a cell phone and GPS built in to the car.
I never had Onstar before and it is wonderful. For instance I was driving at 70 mph on the expressway. The "Low Coolant" warning came on. I punched the Onstar button on the rear view mirror.
A voice said, "This is Greg with Onstar Mr. Marsh. I see that you are driving through Champaign Illinois, on interstate (whatever) how may I Help you?"
I explained about the "Low Coolant" warning. He said, "Would you hold for a minute while I run diagnostics on your car?"
A minute later he said, "I have run complete diagnostics, your engine, transmission, steering, driveline, brakes, airbags are all in perfect opertaing condition. May I call a Cadillac dealer to discuss this situation?"
Minutes later a service manager was on the line. The Onstar system comes through the car speakers. He gave me directions to his shop and told me that he would top it up for free, or I could do it myself, but use the GM Coolant which is orange.
The Onstar guy came back on and said, "I compute that the dealer is about 10 miles from the expressway where you are traveling and I have found an Advance Auto Parts at the next exit. They have the GM Coolant and it is $6.95. It is in stock. It might be quicker for you to get the coolant and pour it in yourself."
All this while driving 70 mph on an expressway. Getting 25 miles to the gallon! And if I have an accident and the airbags deploy, Onstar will call me. If I don't respond, they send an ambulance to my location.
My first Cadillac, and I love it. Smooth, powerful, comfprtable. When I unlock the car with my remote, it sets the seat position, radio stations and mirrors. When my wife uses her remote, it sets all that for her.
There is one thing that is spooky about this car. It is almost alive. I had the coolant leak repaired at a local Cadillac dealer. A few months later I got a message from that dealer that the car had called them, on its own, to tell them it was ready for its 25,000 mile checkup!
