Some here may be interested in this.
I just bought a nice little portable dynamo-powered radio from, of all places, Radio Shack. Model # 12-803. This was made for Radio Shack by I-don't-know-who. It gets more bands than the Grudig dynamo-powered radio that is also sold by Radio Shack and others, and seems better built and more compact to me as well. About $50 US, but some stores don't have it. I had to go to a more distant store, and they only had a display model and one in a box. Don't know much at all about shortwave, but I pulled in plenty of stations from all over last night, and I like the idea of freedom from batteries, especially outdoors or if there is a power outage. Seems good for a preparedness kit.
There's a button that activates a silly beeping "emergency alarm" that I want to disable, other than that no complaints so far.
More info and links to reviews on link below.
