Aahhh... maybe because the guy obviously knew what he was doing when he got equipment, was substantially into the activity/sport, and is truly clearing the decks...a time of his life gone, abandoned, or made impossible by life, health, finances or other circumstances. (OK, I'm feeling very Irish today.
