Here are my two little friends. They are female rats, now 9 weeks old.
Since I can't have a dog here, and I have no room for a litterbox... a friend convinced me to adopt these critters. I must say they are pretty smart and affectionate for their size. They don't bite, and all they need to have fun is an old tissue box and a paper towel tube.
And as you can see, they believe in the harmonic balance of nature.

I should have named them Yin and Yang.

sweet little buggers, hey? I've had all sort of rodents as pets in the past. Relegated to dogs only now.

*Very* cool image...did you have to get them drunk to get them in that position? ;-)

Thats cool. :) I remember haveing rats as pets, it was fun. I trained mine to sit on my shoulder when I walked around.

Were you able to teach them not to poop while they were up there? ;-)

Rats are relatives to squirrels except they don't have the bushy tails of course. I eat squirrels or Tree Rats as I call 'em. A rat wouldn't be far behind if'en I wuz hungry.;)
Just tzn, well sorta anyway. ;)
But they do make nice little pets. However I knew Barb wouldn't probably ever go for one even if she did pet our daughter's once in a while.:D ;)

Trust me, Yvsa, when a pet rat gets full grown they sure do have some meat on 'em :)
I like cats and dogs but I'd eat one if I was in Korea or wherever they are considered delicious. ;)
LOL, Nasty...

Have you considered a tiny Chiuahua-they look more like rats than rats look like rats.

"Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible."
[Lord Kelvin, president, Royal Society, 1895]

"Airplanes are interesting toys but of no military value."
[Marechal Ferdinand Foch, Professor of Strategy, Ecole Superieure de Guerre]

"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers."
[Thomas Watson, chairman IBM, 1943]

"There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their home."
[Ken Olson, Chairman and founder Digital Equipment Corp., 1977]

That reminds me, the kittens are 10 weeks old. Gave away the female, gotta give another away or we'll be stuck with two toms. Nose to rump is about a foot long. Both still lovey, but fast developing "catitudes". I no longer get woke up by one chasing the other to get revenge. Most of the time.

Rusty - I've had two male cats before...they generally work things out between themselves, but good luck and god bless any Tom that enters their territory!

Cats make life better.

Clearblue--great Lord Kelvin quotes. In addition to the wonderful Kelvin temperature scale, Lord Kelvin gave us some of the most entertaining quotes imaginable. Here's a few more good ones:

"War is a relic of babarism probably destined to become as obsolete as duelling."

"Radio has no future."

"There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now, All that remains is more and more precise measurement."

Hmmm... I wonder what he would have thought of the war in Iraq, commercial radio, Bose-Einstein condensates, and fermionic condensates.

Lord Kelvin sounds like a real foot in the mouth kinda fella.

Here's a few more incredible quotes.

"640K ought to be enough for anybody."
[Bill Gates, 1981]

"Fooling around with alternating current is just a waste of time.
Nobody will use it, ever." [Thomas Edison, 1889]

"There is not the slightest indication that nuclear energy will ever be obtainable. It would mean that the atom would have to be shattered at will."
[Albert Einstein, 1932]

"The energy produced by the atom is a very poor kind of thing. Anyone who expects a source of power from the transformation of these atoms is talking
moonshine" [Ernst Rutherford, 1933]

"We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out."
[Decca Recording Co. turning down the Beatles, 1962]

Mr. BE-

How are you accomodating your pet vermin? :p I had to release mine, and I have a broad selection of "hab-i-trail" type units and cages and tubing and accessories lying around idle. PM or email me if you think you might have a use for any of it. I was gonna put it in a yard sale soon, but I can hold it back until I've heard from you.

Great pic, BTW! :D
