Nothing to do with khukuris, but that's not new around here :p
I'm thinking about upgrading a 9mm semi automatic pistol by replacing the factory sights. It's an Hungarian PJK-9HP - a Browning Hi Power clone, so this is possible, I'm told. At least the rear sight...
Any of you pistoleros have a suggestion? Low-profile and high visibility are the priorities - adjustability is not.

I have heard goo things about Meprolites. i do not have personal experience. Supposed to be good at a reasonable price.

I use Meprolite Night sights. They stand out great in low light. Dunno if they make sights for your gun though.

I have Innovative Weaponry night sights on my Glock. After 9 years they faded (10 year guarantee), and they swapped them out for free without a whimper. Great company.

I also have Tool Tech Gunsight tritium inserts in the S&W "K" Frame rear sight on my series '70 Colt (Trijicon affiliate), that still are bright since 1994 when they were installed.

I would contact Innovative and see what they have for your model. I think you will be happy with their work.

I am also partial to Meprolights, the white ring surrounding the tritium dot is plastic (not paint like the Trijicons) so it won't be scrubbed / worn off by solvents. Another option is an Ashley XS big dot sight, which is extremely fast and easy to pick up, but out past 15-20 yards, it takes some practice getting good hits as they are not a "precision" sight.

Heinie and Novak also make some good night sights, but the Heinies don't have a white ring around the tritium dots, but the sight picture is super crisp.

If it was my gun I would go with the Meprolights.

Also, if you look at Brownells or Midway, sometimes you can find a good sale, or if you can find someone who has a Corporate/Government discount with those places it is way cheaper than paying full retail.

Hope the links work as this is the first time I have posted anything like that. Let us know what you decide on - I want a Browning Hi-Power, but I got too many irons in the fire right now.

I have Trijicons on my Glock and have been very happy, but bear in mind that any tritium night sight will fade after about 10 years. I think that I saw that the half-life of tritium is 12 years. Anyway, if you get night sights, plan on replacing them at about 10 years. At about $100/set of sights, that is something to consider.

I think Wayne Novak makes a set of Hi-Power sights and works on that model as well.

Look to see if your front sight can be replaced by a front dovetail milled in - say one that accepts the dovetailed Browning fronts. Or Colt front, depending on height. Whatever is really popular nowadays.

Maybe have the rear milled to what's popular at the same time.

I have the XS Big Dot tritium sights on several pistols, shotguns and an AK. Very, very happy with them. Good people in the company, too.

Tritium's are cool, and i've heard some stuff about fiberoptics as well.

Are you part of the JPFO org Bri? I'm sure they've got some advice/ideas on what you can get on that.

I wuold like to third the novaks. I have a pair of hi-powers, an hunky and a FN, both will get Novaks sooner or later.
