I live in richmond va. Now I have been and lived a lot of places but the mail service here sucks ! They won't uptate package info, lose items , deliver a week late! I've delt with buys off the exchange here where I knew it wasn't the shippers fault it was the post office! Sorry about the rant but I just did a trade and it hasn't even been scaned yet! I Even know for fact they have skipped this buildings somedays ! What happened to the good ol reliable post office?

I live in a suburban area the the US Mail sucks here too. Perfect example from today, I walked out to get the mail a little while ago and noticed the flag was up. Opened the mailbox and saw today's mail sitting on top of a bill that needed to be picked up by carrier. Nice job, guys.

I have heard a lot of issues like this. A friend of mine spent 45 min a day for a week calling and talking to someone at the USPS. You can imagine nothing has changed.

Let's not forget it's a government organazation.....that can't get anything.

I've made countless phone calls 45+ mins waiting getting transferred ....the best one was well we just don't know where your package is! It was coming from NC 4hours away ? Took a month too show up!

I must be lucky here in middle Tennessee...uh-oh...did I just jinx myself?

My mail carrier is EXCEPTIONAL (maybe due to my gift to him a couple of Christmas' ago of a Spyderco Jester)...I know all the employees on a first name basis at my local PO and they are stand up folks also...

But just to show it's not a case of home-cookin-- I even had to call the PO in NYC ( the one in the high-rise that actually holds ! 4 PO's ! for the city of New York ) 2 months back with a package delivery issue and got terrific service via phone call. So, it's not just people in the South...there's good, hard working Yankee postal workers too! ;)

I think it's largely a function of how dedicated the crew is that you deal with most often. But then ya gotta throw in the randomness of how many different workers actually are responsible for handling your mail. Just one anonymous dumba** can start a sh**storm of confusion that's next to impossible to track. Actually, it's a miracle anything gets delivered if you think about with all the factors involved.

Latest interaction with USPS on BF...2 Ladybugs mailed by me in TN to buyer in Hawaii...arrived in 3 days ~~~ALOHA!!!~~~

Lazy Otter, I sympathize with your plight although I haven't had a run of bad luck yet...

And we've all heard the horror stories of burning heaps of undelivered mail and mail thrown in dumpsters...

But let's don't forget to show some love for the unheralded faithful heroes of the USPS < cue the crickets > :p

Yeah, but seriously a sh**load of mail IS SUCCESSFULLY delivered 6 days a week...just thought that needed to be put out there :)

signed, Petey2.1-- not an employee, nor a relative of a USPS worker-- hell, I'm not even being compensated for posting this

For anything important to send out, I have me or the wife get off our rearends and go take it to the PO ourselves to ensure we have a scanned in receipt. Even though it is a 15 minute drive each way, gas and 30 minutes of time are way cheaper than replacing a knife. Inbound packages seem to vary a lot for no specific reason. It seems these days the quality of public service definitely is not what it was in days gone by, but considering you don't have to deliver it yourself, it could be worse. Ever watch "The Postman"? :p

I've had nary an issue with USPS. However, the UPS driver in my area is a tad inept. Granted, I don't know the inner workings of the company, how they choose their routes, etc...but considering I've had packages show up as early as 9:30 am up til 6:45 pm and also watched this same driver stop, turn off, then restart the truck 3 times for 3 houses over the distance of 60 yards is utterly maddening. Maybe that's their policy, I don't know, but watching this guy squander that much time for three packages easily held in one hand is baffling.

Or, I'm far too impatient for my newest Busse and need to calm down a touch. I guess I'd prefer a 3 or 4 hour window of potential delivery rather than 9, essentially killing an entire day

Oh, AND the guys a "quiet knocker".

Pretty good service here in suburban area of Portland, Oregon, where I live. Mail usually delivered by 10.30 am. If I know a Busse is inbound, I can intercept the mail carrier before that time by driving up the street...;-)

Whenever I get a box from Busse, our rural mail carrier lady says "looks like Tom got another knife".:D:thumbup:

I live in southwest Virginia and the post office here is a joke. Every single Priority Mail package has a tracking number now. And every one that I check en-route to me will show an "expected" delivery date. For example, it will say "expected delivery Friday March 6th. Then on Tuesday March 10th it will say that my package was delayed. It will be in a city 10 miles from me. Delayed. Sometimes it will sit there another 2 or 3 days. Priority in my areas sometimes takes 7 to 10 days! I had two packages sent to me by the same guy, mailed together at the same time. One first class mail and one priority. I got the first class package 3 days before I got the priority package....go figure, wasted money. There is no recourse as the USPS does not "guarantee" delivery times unless you get the ultra expensive Expedited service.

Usually don't have issues.

I got some memory for my Mac. It shipped Monday. The last thing that USPS knows about it was when it left IL on Monday. It's THURSDAY! Should be delivered by now. Nope. No reliable tracking. No memory. Slow Mackul-tosh. :(

Only had one issue with USPS when shipping the package was delayed a day. Updates alway work for me and they are the only company that has adjusted shipping early!

The tracking just sux! But my buyer got his knife today which was a day earlier than expected I had already recived his trades. Sent a CRK to the spa it's there now! And my sheath came couldn't be happier and more relived. It's like gambling using USPS.
