I got it in the mail yesterday. All I can say is wow! Instead of the standard 15" OAL I had him make mine 12". It has a really nice heavy leather belt sheath with it. Handle of Osage Orange. Weight without the sheath is a pound.
In the true Nessumuk style one edge is very fine for clear wood. Also will machete! The other side is thicker for knots or bones. Both sides shave.
The head has a much wider cutting surface than the GB mini, or even my GB Hunters Axe. Much much wider than the Ragnar Ft. Meigs Nessmuk. The handle is thicker than the Ft. Meigs so it's a few ounces heavier.
I chopped and macheted a little yest evening to try it out. Excellent! The extra fine bit is unbelieveable as far as the amount of wood cut with each chop.
This is a beautiful custom hatchet, and while it is about twice what you'd pay for a GB mini, and about 4 times what you'd pay for a Ragnar Ft. Meigs, it's really not a lot more than we pay for some of the khuks and the quality/utility is great!
Try to take some pix this weekend.
