Yes, that's right, you'll no longer hear me complaining about my cramped little hole-in-the-wall, devoid of guns and knives. I'm posting right now from my new digs in the suburbs! It's not quite the grand, isolated mansion I would prefer ;), but it has a bathtub, garage, backyard, kitchen, washer, dryer, and NO COCKROACHES, all things which my old room lacked (or possessed in quantities it's better not to discuss). It's not quite all mine, I'm sharing the place with several fellow soldiers, but one room is mine and we've made one of the spare bedrooms into 'geek central', aka the computer room. The high speed (3.5mbps! ) cable internet is hooked up and I'm just about floating on air. :D The little things like a full-sized refrigerator and kitchen sink just feel too good to be true. And I haven't even mentioned the best part... part of the deal for me was a claim on half the garage for a makeshift shop. That's right, in a few months I hope to buy a knifemaker title and posting privileges! So stay tuned; once I get the tools I plan to offer some free customizing work on khuks and other knives as a way to get acquainted with the marketplace. Who knows; we may even have a South East Khonvention sometime! Thank you all for reading my rambling gloat, this was just too good not to share with my friends. :)

Congrats RR!

Lets see....young, single, private room.... there has to be a lady somewhere in that scenario! :D

Ah...to be young again! Have fun! Be careful (with those knives of course) :D

Congratulations!! It's nice having your own place.....you actually are happy about the kitchen sink?? Now a dishwasher....then I could understand ;) :D

This would be a great idea, Kurt. If you like, I've got 10 acres we can use here in NW Ark that will have 2 forges & plenty of room to hang out by the end of the month. My shop at home is 1 mile away.

When you start hitting the knifemaking hard let me know. We'll set something up.

Send your addy when you get a chance.

Congrats!!

Yee-Haw! Ah...I remember when. Glad to hear it Kurt...the barracks were always pretty depressing for me.

Hooah!

Hey, I'll be house-sitting in Augusta from the 11th to the 16th, if you want to do lunch or dinner sometime in there. :)

John, whose mohawk is blue today.

We have one of those too; it's just that for the last year I've been doing all of my dishes in a bathroom sink. Do you know how hard it is to clean a waffle iron in one of those? Not breaking every other plate and glass is nice too.

Dan, will do, and thank you very much for the kind offer. Two forges !

Spectre, we should do that. I'll send you an e-mail. Blue mohawk huh? Should be easy to spot you at least :p.

And of course thank you all for the well wishes. This really is a dream come true. :D

Good job, RR.

Be sure to post samples of your work when you get to that point. Looking forward to it.

Meep, meep.

keep in mind, young man,

That just because you've moved out and gotten a place of your own...

you're not too grown-up to keep in touch with your family here in the

Cantina. We practically raised you...and now....(sob, gasp,......)

They grow up SO fast. :(

Kurt, there's a good chance it'll end up being shaved off after my trip to TN (leave tomorrow)...especially since I'll probably apply with Sizemore Security when I get back.

Congrats again.

John

Congratulations on the move up to a nicer place roadrunner! I hope you will enjoy it. Sounds like a nice change for you. Best regards...

Yep - 2 forges. 1 horizontal, 1 vertical. Horiz for long blades, Vert for pattern welding.

Hoping by next spring to be able to have a few good bent blades under my belt....or, tucked in my belt....however it ends up....

:D
