I went to a gun show in Sacramento this weekend and found a couple of things worth ogling over. One fellow had a very nice yataghan, probably 28" long ovearall and 1.5 pounds. Grip had medium sized ears, buff horn w/silver bolster. Blade had twin fullers full length of blade and there was the typical "T" cross section spine. The blade still had some of the gold wire inlay in its blade, and if you looked close you could see that the blade was forged from very high quality "Persian Ribbon" patterned damascus (owner erroneously told me that it was made of wootz). Overall it was in good shape, some superficial pitting, small piece of the bolster missing and the horn had shrunk some. Didn't even ask what he wanted for it cause I'm broke and didn't want to cry like a little girl if it was actually affordable. The thing handled like a dream and was obviously made for someone with $$$$ by a mastersmith. I also handled a nice pattern welded PI kris and barong, and a kora in quite nice shape that was $200. My guess was that the kora was made in the last 50 years or so, definately wasn't new though.

Oh well, done rambling about nuthin :)
ps only kuks I saw were a AC type and a bunch of tourist crap w/ what Yangdu calls the "pig face" butt cap.
