This is a must have for those who are scotch fanatics. In 1963 Glenfiddich was the first distiller to sell single malt scotch worldwide. This original formula created a craze for single malt scotches. At the time only blended malts were available outside the distilleries. Glenfiddich's master distiller re-created this original formula from the original distillers notes from 1963. There is 24,000 bottles world wide. If you want to see what a single malt from the early 60's tasted like and specifically the malt that started it all, then you need to get this before they are all gone. I just picked one up yesterday. Here is what it looks like:

and the usual busse knife content as well:

^^Are you hiding the INFI somewhere? ;)

I'm keen to hear your thoughts on that bottle when you pop it - curious how it compares to today's malts. I love those kinds of side-by-side comparisons. The other thing to consider is that Single Malt is a relatively new phenomena in the scotch world - almost all scotch was used in vatted or blended malts back then. It is a treat to be able to taste 1963'ish Single Malt.

It is interesting that they used the term "Straight Malt Whisky" - not something you see very often.

Laphroaig has been doing limited runs with their own floor maltings and I think there is a profound difference in the end product.

A buddy found one of these for me a few years ago and i need to revisit it after I get over this head cold:

I can't wait to open it but I am going to save it for a buddies birthday and will have a few good buddies there to taste it.

Got to go looking for this. I have a close friend who would love this.

Thanks for the info.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for that. Thanks Cobalt!!! About how much does it cost?

Retail is around $100 per bottle. I'm going to "cheat" and get it through the distillery, or perhaps at a large Army base.

Not surprised it can be found for $80 - a lot more reasonable.

Thanks guys! I'll be watching for it, and I'll let my brother know to do the same.
