OT---Selling on the internet--WEIRD

I found I had a few small items that had been lying around gathering dust so I decided to put them in a classified forum for sale. I'm talking about things selling for 20 to 40 bucks.Payment options were either Paypal or Money Order.

For each item it seems like there will be from two to four people that will send an email stating "I'll take it" then will not respond to the question--"How do you want to pay."

There was one -I assume- fella---who tied up several items with the generic"I'll take it" and completely dissappears.

Being new to selling on the internet, is this something that others also encounter or is it a sign of the internet culture to want something -but not be willing to pay for it---Strange.

Nope, never happens to me....

:p

Or Bill, for that matter....

*groan*

Welcome to the anonymity we call the internet. Easy to hide behind your computer, talk stuff up and conveniently forget to "follow through"....

Impulsive types were born for eBay....:D

again:

:p

Same thing happens in "real" life. Just easier with the anonymity of the net.

"Club" is right....sometimes that's what it takes....:D

I was selling a M1 Carbine through a well known gun forum. This was my first attempt at such a sale through the net. Guy from the forum got ahold of me- I'll take it. Then he wanted me to disassemble it to verify serial numbers. I'm sure there is a fix for this, but if you take the bayonet lug barrel band off, it scratches the barrel. I did as he requested. The Deal was on on on. Meanwhile another poster wanted the rifle. Is the deal really on? I asked the first guy. Oh yes, absolutely sure- take it to the bank.
This went on for a week. I contacted the second buyer but he now owned another new gun- sorry.

The flake finally emailed me he couldn't take the rifle, and his knowledgable buddy told him it was a Korean import. It wasn't. NO apology. Nothing from him. This incensed me a little. I wrote him and explained Life had a few rules, and when we give our word and then change our minds saying "Sorry' is one of them.

I even got a copy of his local dealers FFL- he'd jacked him around too with this 'sale'.

I always sell low, too. I want the person to be happy.

That summer I sold it for 50 bucks less to a dealer.

I don't want to sell anything if I can help it these days. It might be easier to hold up a liquor store if one is short of cash, then putting an ad on the net.

I think I poured icewater on an exposed tooth nerve.

Something came to me, that it just might be some "MENTAL" type or a teenager that lurks/trolls and finds fun in creating as much deliberate chaos as possible, without having to be accountable.

It is so darn irritating to deal with these types.

Kinda makes the return of public whippings(canings) seem like a good idea.

After trying to maintain some civility and courtesy with these idiots,I find that I need to go out into the shop and sharpen a Ganga Ram Villager in order to reestablish sanity.

Turning on the TV causes so much angst on seeing that group of cretins and sycophants calling themselves "The 911 Commission" and that group of subhuman
excrement calling themselves "The Armed Services Committee investigating the Iraqi Prison Scandal" makes one want to use the sharpened kukri.

Whew!! Off rant---I needed that :D

Works for me!

:D :p

Clear- I hadn't been back to the High Road since that fiasco until recently. When I did return, a poster came out of nowhere, with very few posts to his name, to insult me in a thread in which I admitted a accidental discharge from a Ruger 45.

I always wondered who that was- Burafan- or one of the punks you met on the net!!!

I can almost feel their snickering as they try to set the hook and start reeling me in. :barf:
