Its just a fantasy tax. You buy some tickets and then fantasize about what you would do if you win. Of course no one really wins ....

but its a win/win for the State. They get lots of money if you win or loose.......
 
I lived in Orlando in 1988, just after Florida had started their state lottery. There was an editorial comment in the Orlando Sentinel that has always stuck with me:

The concept of a state-run lottery raises an interesting moral dilemma. If the axiom "A fool and his money are soon parted." is true, does the state have an obligation to provide the means?

I rarley ever play, so last night I bought some tickets and tried. I didnt really get much out of it and dont see the big deal. Course I understand the concept you cant win if you dont play.
 
They reported 2 winners this morning.
One is in Dalton GA , 34 miles to my north.

The NKCA anual knife show is in Dalton starting Fri. So maybe they are knife nuts. On second though maybe there not, might come in and buy the whole show.

They say if you took all of Bill Gates money and put it into the state lotto, and each day you took the winnings from the day before and put it all back into the lotto - how many days would you get to "play" before you ran out of money. The answer................

About 5 days. THAT is how bad your odds are of making any money in that deal. They say the ods are better in Vegas!!


I am just an old schooler. Divorce is undesirable. Babies out of wedlock - not a good idea. Smoking and coffee will stunt your groth. (so that is what happened!!) But gambling [modern cute name "gaming"] is just dumb. Money is hard enough to come by.... :)
