I had gone out of my way to try and find the right shell, Condor, Patagonia, and many others thanks in part to REI store fronts, anyways, I had asked for jackets, I like variety, and after trying to ask around for friends and family who wanted nice jackets, I decided I would buy some to find what truly worked for me. The verdict for something quite warm and breathable, lots of stow away pockets for phone, ipod, knife, and etc misc items?

Well I just this morning gave away the other jackets I had gotten to friends and family members, but I myself have settled on Condor, for the price and fit, quality, and over all attention to detail, its nothing fancy no frills, though I am keeping my TAD jackets to switch out cause they are diff colors from the condor, just from a day to day dress stand point, want to be different sometimes from my norm. It really fits the bill. TAD really is exceptionally made. It is! Now I am no gear expert nor do I do reviews, cause lets face it, I am just an average joe.

But I loaded up the jacket with stuff I would normally have on me anyways, and it just felt right, the Condor piece really is worth the money, I am as I write this wearing a Dark Olive green hoody under it, a tshirt, some 24/7 pants. Its comfy. Its black btw, which was something a little less eye catchy than the OD, Khaki, stuff I wear or have; which actually believe it or not from what people have constantly been telling me catches their attention. So my thoughts I guess were right, black bags, clothing, really aren't loud.

Is TAD worth the money? Well it is if you want it, How about other jackets? TAD isn't carried by REI, but other brands are like TNF, Patagonia, and other brands like their store brand. I really like all the jackets. But Pata, REI, really fit formly, and didn't feel so snowboardy. If you know what I mean. I really like those jackets. But as I said, TAD is awesome, a bit pricey, but that is self justified if you WANT it. Much like LMT, LWRCi, Noveske, Night Hawk, etc, if you really want it, get it. But other brands like Spikes Tactical, Daniel Defense, Stag, etc are just fine too. The point is they don't cost an arm and leg, like TAD, LWRCI, NIKE, etc lol. Condor, DIY Rifle, New Balance will do just fine. And they do.

Just wanted to post I valued and thank all of you who posted before on the other topics and post an update, the Condor jacket is a BITTTT SMALL. Ever since I lost weight my upper body like l to r chest and chest depth are WIDE and deep cause of muscle, but my lower body has gotten so skinny, that I am thankful for the straps at the bottom that allow me to tighten the waist straps.

I am not journeying to the most dangerous places, nor am I a survival expert, soldier, or such. As I said, I am an average joe who likes to run around outside in the woods and have fun. This jacket will serve me a very very long time, seeing as I bet I will use it far more than my TAD stuff, but they will be its replacements once it wears out, eventually lol.

Now I am on the search for a new bag to fill some needs I want met, a backpack with some decent cubics inside for size. with internal straps for pouch attachment for organization, that doesn't scream TACTICAL like Maxpedition, Eberlestock, TAD, 5.11 etc. I have been looking at Blue Force's bags to hold an SBR, magazines, and etc to and from range, but also serve as a good daily bag for office and work, school in the future and such. Any thoughts?

Have written to a few companies seeing if I could get a custom bag made from drawings and measurements, my sbr measures 28in collapsed, and resides in CO, which I will be attending school at in Fort Collins :) . All the companies keep giving me no answers, may have to learn to sew and use a machine to alter a sport bag like TNF or Jansport to serve the bill.

Anyone do their own gear or make? Or know anyone that does? May sew straps to hold rifle in place, and to mount pouches to too, any help here would be greatly appreciated!

Holy wall of text Batman! Are we talking about soft shell jackets or a bag for your SBR?

A sweatshirt under the Condor works pretty well. I also have a USGI bear shirt ready for when I need it. Haven't used it yet though, not with the Condor over it.

If I read this correctly , sometimes I zone out ... ;)
I just purchased (last year) Columbia soft shell jacket Green & Black color scheme & then purchased the wind/waterproof shell same color to make a multi season jacket . I waited til off season to purchase & have less than $50 in the pair :D

Yea I've been eyeing the TAD jacket too. Very expensive but I just might make the jump. I also like the TAD FAST pack to. It seems to be the right size for me and built to last. Damn my tax refund is spent before I get it yet again!

I have both soft shell and hard shell from Arc'Teryx - best jackets ive ever had. Period.

I have the Alpha LT (hardshell) and the Firee hoody (softshell).

If backpack is what you want, check out Arc'teryx backpack, you will not find better backpacks with such good comfort.

Yes, they are expensive, but they are also the ESEEs of the clothing world.

Lil'Spartan,

Grats on the coat? I think that's what you were getting at, maybe, either way... On the bag, you really didn't let us know what you were looking for size wise. Decent just isn't a good descriptor. You might try Kifaru. They have a hunting line (no molle.) And a tactical line (molle, except the express which has molle/non option.) They have a gunbearer/carrier system for if you want to strap a rifle outside your pack or ready for use. Great gear, highly recommend it. Not cheap at all.

God bless,
Adam

Eberlestock!!! Eberlestock!!!

I have the Condor jacket as well... THe sticking is a bit chinsy and I had to epoxy the velcro cuffs...but over all a great jacket...

I have absolutely no idea what you just said! I can't get past your advatar, holy cripes!

Adaman04: Both, hahaha sorry, I tend to be very vocal in thought when I post stuff :) it is pretty huge, I was out earlier buying a tool box from home depot for my dad, trying to get him going. Wore it, simply walking around also checking prices on stuff for house, ended up making me warm enough I needed to take it off and tie around waist. I was only wearing a shirt underneath, but wow! Talk about warm. Its only 50* in so cal atm, so it isn't cold.

TexasTonyDobbs: You read right, and I will purchase more stuff from REI and other places once winter is over, but I am still slimming and building, I've lost 7 pounds since being back in Cali, and I am trying to gain that or a little more back in muscle. I didnt realize I had begun burning so quickly from just recov from THXgiving lol. And thanks for the PM, but I am looking for a bag that doesn't scream outdoors lover or tactical. Alot of people said I should learn to sew and use a sewing machine :( looking at Singer CG-590. I wanna be able to add pockets to store bought clothes, or do add ons to bags like molle straps inside bag to organize magazines, multitool, etc, with only outside straps for esee3 or 4. But organization is really a stickler for me. I am just concerned with catching the wrong attention or easily being picked out because of style of bag, I was looking for something like TNF's 3 day pack, something that can handle the 25-28in length of my SBR in CO, or carry my AR Pistol here in So Cal, cause I have both now. But want to be able to go to and from range without raising eye brows, there are ALOT of anti-fire arm ppl nearby. They frown and b*tch and moan...found out that one guy I know a few neighborhoods over, uses a guitar hardcase for his ar rifle and pistol, and a golf bag he said for his bolt rifles.

PigSticker: I like their stuff, but really really over priced imo. Especially for NOT MADE IN AMERICA. For somethings thats a good thing rofl...but for stuff like this or knives, or automotive parts, etc? I want to support and see, MADE IN AMERICA; again. Tad will get a in person visit from me soon, interested in seeing store. They better not be jerky to deal with. :( I'd hate to have to go home feeling screwed, even if I don't buy anything rofl.

Turbo: I like their Jackets, but the cost was prohibitive. And my shoulders were uncomfy as was reaching for stuff, maybe cause I have wide shoulders and weird length arms :( But I LOVE their stuff! I Wouldn't say Esee, cause they are expensive, but the quality? Heck yes. Esee loves its customers, affordable, reliable, high quality...if only they made furniture...I'd be happiest lol.

JumpMonkey: Yes coat/jacket :) And bag wise, sbr is 25-28 in for colorado, in cali ar pistol is barely tagging 21 inches GPU goodness :) Kif's bags scream Adventurer Outdoorsman Tactical Minded, At least the ones I've seen, I am trying to go for a more casual day to day bag, like a school bag, skate bag, or work bag? two shoulder strapped, I kinda want maxpeds falconII with more length, thicker shoulder straps, waist strap, shoulder straps to have mounts for knife, or holster pouches for multitool on one side, and also on other side for a light, or possibly knife mount. But internal hard plastic to keep shape, also internal straps for securing ar pistol and or sbr. and on tongue side of opening, molle straps for pouches, tools, cleaning items, etc. back admin pockets for more organization. A hard tire rubber sole bottom, kinda like on the OLD jansport school bags? Geez...seems the only way I'll find anything at this point is to either make it myself, modify a school bag, which means learn to make. Or find someone who can do the stitchwork and cutting :( ugh...

Nothing55: I have Eberlestock bags :) Gunslinger and a few others, its why I was nearly broke a while bag. Went over board...and with shot show coming I may get even more so in the red lol. But those bags? They dont just shout and scream tact or hunter, which elludes and draws attention, CARRYING A WEAPOOON! Its style is a bit big and cumbersome. And my Jacket was and is super :) even loaded up with multitool, knife, phone, ipod, glasses, gloves, red and black pens, a black sharpie, wallet, etc...lol.
