Any idea where to get the brass pins to keep these together? I had a handle break on an oldie I've got. New slabs should be a piece of cake.... but I'll need new pins/rivots. Any help'll be much appreciated.

I would try some 16ga wire... or welding rods, or some such.
I've heard people using that before.. not real sure how you go about fixing something like that and getting it to fit just right though.

I have used welding rod quite a bit. First I measure the hole, the rods come in a lot of different sizes. If nothing fits perfect I take the next size larger and carefully file and sand it to fit. I put a slight bevel to the outside of the scales to peen the pins so they will not move. I like using the welding rods because they seem to be pretty strong so, will wear less if they are used where there is any movement. They work for me.:) :)

I use welding/brazing rod for all my brass and copper pins too. Works great.

Is this the technique you use to get the pin down to correct size?

Put a piece of the rod into your electric drill and wrapping a piece of sandpaper around the area that you want to reduce in size?

I've used drill rod on a few projects to good effect as well. Brownells has about every diamet you could use, fairly cheap stuff too.Drill rod
