Tactical cigar tubes? Who knew that such a thing existed? These things could almost be used like kubotans. Heck, I might make one of these into a life capsule/PSK.

These Ci-Guard cigar tubes are the Busses of the cigar-tube world, for sure. Exactly what I needed.

Thanks, again, Bryan (KAAK)!

Mike, Mike, Mike, you know better....

Pics man.

Will this fit into the sheath pouch on your INFI??

I found that the cheaper A&C (Antony & Cleopatra) tubes are a tougher, sturdier plastic, but the cap didn't seal well, and required a secondary sealant.

Have you found one that seals well??

Well, firstly, you may remember that I posted this request for a cigar tube, last week:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354957

And, if you read the thread, you will see that Bryan (KnifeAddictAK) offered to send me some cigar tubes.

I've now receieved the cigar tubes, so I'm writing a follow-up, and a thank-you to Bryan. Also, there was some discussion in the previous thread as to whether the cigar tubes would be airtight, as I needed. So, I'm letting you guys know that these Ci-Guard cigar tubes that Bryan sent me are absolutely airtight, very rigid, and far beyond my expectations in every way.

Sorry, guys, but I'm not going to waste server space on pictures that will just look like a plain black tube. I'll give you a description, though:

They're made of sturdy black plastic; they're about 8 inches by 3/4 inch, the cap is about 1 inch diameter by 2 inches long, and is ribbed for a better grip.

If you still want to see a picture, here's a picture I took last week:

I can't imagine any cigar tube would fit in the pouch that comes on a Busse sheath. Those pouches barely hold an Altoids tin. But I carry my INFI in my camera pack, and these cigar tubes will fit on my camera pack with no trouble.

They are quite rigid. I just now tested this by stepping on one, balancing on it with my full weight with both feet. It held tight and was not damaged in any way.

The caps seal very well. You must pull with an estimated ~15 pounds force to pull the cap off, and it pulls off with a satisfying "pop" sound. I would guess that they are waterproof to at least 20 feet.

Awsome picture Mike! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Bravado, Crush D, randucci, Skunk & THG -- How is it that you can find INFI here, there and everywhere; but you can't find cigarclassics.com and their Ci-Guard tubes.
I think someone should contact them to find out what their one-time setup change is for custom text. "Busse Combat -- No Regrets" on one side, "Got INFI?" on the other.

Whatta ya think?

Drew,

Thanks for the knid words about my pic! There was more involved in taking that shot than you'd think.

Regarding the custom-printed Ci-Guard tube: I'd love one of those, even though I don't even smoke. I'd be in on that group-purchase (presuming the price wasn't outrageous, of course).

My laziness has nothing to do with the rulez.

Talk about something new must be complete with pics.

We hogs like to be spoon fed. You should know that by now.... ;)

HEY! You in my neck of the woods? Or, am I drunk again and those aren't Snowy Egrets?

Prolly just drunk and the local hand rolled cigars just come in cellophane in a heavy paper 'pack' of 20.

Rob

Rob,

You must be drunk, because those are no snowy egrets. They're great egrets.

Here's a snowy egret:

Notice that the great egret has a yellow beak and black feet, while the snowy egret has a black beak and yellow feet. :D

Also, at their height of their breeding plumage, it would also be clear that the great egret has green lores, while the snowy has pink lores.

In any case, I took both pics out West. But I may head to Florida in a few weeks to visit a woman I'm keen on :) , who happens to also be nature photographer... so I may be shooting some of your local birds, soon.

It was my pleasure... I'd post more, but am in midst a fishing run 3hrs there, all day, then back then back again, etc....

Glad they made it

you've got a job I am envious of, evolute! I take photos of birds whenever I can. been lots of juvenile hawks, cardinals, etc. around the nursery lately.

I hope this allowed :) : blade forum bird photo thread

I tried to email evolute this link awhile back since you are the only professional photographer that I know of even remotely. There are some decent photos in that thread- I took some of wood storks, mourning doves, red shouldered hawks, etc...I've really been getting into it, now I just need a better camera!

Hi, roughedges,

Somehow, I never got the email you sent. I was laid-up in bed at my best friend's house, drowning in phlegm, trying to shake off a case of pneumonia, when that thread was going.

Thanks for the link. I'll go take a closer, look, and leave a response, in a bit.

Better camera equipment helps, but you can take top-notch pics with most any camera.

"you've got a job I am envious of, evolute!"

Do you know how people become professional nature photographers? 1) Say "I'm a professional nature photographer"; 2) Start taking nature pictures as good the other pros do; 3) Go out and sell 'em!

You can do it! You can make your life any way you want!

And on this note: I AM about to go to Key West with my new sweetheart!

Woo hoo!

Ok Mike, I was just drunk. Sorta again, but they are Great Egrets. I'm looking out the back where they are walking around in the grass looking for whatever Great Egrets eat. The dog wants out so he can chase them, but not till they hop the fence and start on the next yard. About 7 or 10. Come over the west fence, sweep the yard, then hop the east fence. Guess they do the whole block.

Cayo Weso eh? Fun spot. Gets real interesting during the King Mango Strut. Almost TOO interesting. LOL

If you get the chance, check out the 10,000 islands area. Birders paradise. Bring plenty of DEET.

Rob

Mike,

More most excellent pics. Man, I hope the income the fun makes up for the pneumonia!

Cheers,
BJB :D

Hey, thanks, BJB!

Man, I hope the income the fun makes up for the pneumonia!

You know... I can spend weeks camped out in the snow, and never get a sniffle, because nobody is passing any germs on to me. But as soon as I babysit my best friend's daughter--

--I get pneumonia. Those sandboxes and play groups are hotbeds of disease!

As for the income and the fun: Most outdoor photographers live large, save little, and write off lots of travel-related business expenses. :) I'm having as much fun as possible, but also trying to save up what I can.
