Well, the inspectors found termites again along the same wall as last year. I don't think they did the job right in the first place, so I'm glad it is warrantied work. I've been scratching for 3 days now. Glad today they will take care of the problem....hopefully right this year.

A few weeks ago I made a rash comment about once learning to sharpen my knives at our little get together on Apr.30, I wouldn't need a man anymore.....well I now remember what I need one around for.....bugs. I hate bugs and snakes and all those creepy things. So what can I say. I guess it's back to the drawing board  :footinmou ;) :D

Termites are difficult to control. Unless you live in the frozen North. Like Killer bees, they don't like that.

I had to stomp Hobo spiders in Idaho, Wolf and Blackwidow spiders in Ca.

And Gin; I've killed a lot of snakes!!!

get yourself one of those australian lizards that eat termites - it'll solve your problem ;)

And then some austrailian snakes to keep the lizards in check...

Then, some khukuris to keep the snakes in check...

Seriously, no one hates termites more than me

Formosans ATE half my garage wall... it's being replaced as we speak. $$$$ :grumpy: :( :barf:

Sounds like you have subterraineans, Gin. Terminx plan; they trench around your house with a bug-gitter called Termador.

Good luck...

AA?

Between the hurricaines and the buggses...you think maybe Mother Nature is telling you something about living in Florida? She's coming at you from top AND bottom !!!

Well, yeah, Kis, the great thing is that the 10' flood revealed the underlying termite damage... now it can all get fixed- at my expense.

I am seriously considering taking my cursed FEMA trailer to a better place, having sold my waterfront to a rich, uhh, person with illusions about living in Florida.

Nevada is looking good... Help me out y'all-

Which state is best? Don't want to freeze, a little is OK. Tired of 145 mph winds & flooding, but crime-friendly areas not an option.

I have a serious bias in favor of the Mid-West. Winter goes fast, except for the days that it doesn't. You can always visit warm places in January, February and March.

I love the architecture of Boston, but the traffic is truly insane; the hills and texture of San Francisco, but the prices and the general atmosphere kind of puts me off; loved the Texans I knew, but Piney Woods humidity is tangible--literally, you have to MOVE it out of the way; and the far West doesn't speak to me, I like green ground, diciduous trees and reptiles that can't hurt you; and the West Coast shakes a lot, except up in Oregon and Washington, where the Californians are killing housing costs for the long-time residents.

I don't know if I could deal with what I'd always wished for: a place that had social interaction and variety, with shapes, colors, trades and professions all mixed up and happy that way, and sidewalks to meander (ever try walking in Dallas?) I've lived alone and in a rural area for too long, I fear.

Not much help, eh? Wiser folks will contribute.

Be well and safe.

Which khuk...... :p

Termimtes aren't so much fun. The little buggers are better organized then, well, most groups I've been affiliated with. I guess centralized control of a very small-minded labor pool has some features. Good luck getting rid of them.

I don't think there is any "best state" per se; as a compromise has to be made with all of them in one way or another. Eastern Oklahoma, Western to Mid-Arkansas, and Southern Missouri are all pretty nice.:D
It does get a little colder in Missouri but is milder, generally, in the hot summer months. Oklahoma and Arkansas are very similar. You get the damned humidity along with the heat in the high summer but the winters are, generally, milder.
The biggest downfall is the likelihood of a tornado, but you have a better chance of getting hit by lightning than hurt by a tornado.
However 'Fraidy Holes are nice.;)
And if you stay out of the flood plain it isn't likely that you will be flooded.
Unfortunately it is getting to where crime is about anywhere you go anymore.:grumpy: :(

We had to have our house treated for termites this year. I haven't been able to spray every year like I used too.
The new bait system is a lot less invasive but you have the little green canisters all around your house. :grumpy:

Alaska's the best state, of course! too cold for termites, snakes, venomous spiders, and street crime. Plenty of elbow room for everybody, lots of scenery, you can carry cool weapons and toys without a permit,(not nearly as many silly laws as the lower 48) No one is brave enough to b!tch about your 4x4 or SUV, there's lots and lotsa fishin', and critters to shoot at, and the cold aint as bad as people think- besides that it keeps street crime down...Lots of eccentric people here too, but...so far there's still room enough for everybody... :D (1.5 square miles per person as I recall?)
