"If you have people you care for, and people who care for you....everything else is just 'stuff.'"

I remember it as "He who dies with the most stuff, still dies"

"Cattle die, kindred die, and all men must die, but there is one thing that I know which never dies: The fame of a dead man's deeds."

"Havamal" - old Viking poem

Rare for me to post much of anyone's verse besides my own, but this is just an incredible song.

If I could tell the world just one thing, it would be that we're all OK
And not to worry 'cause worry is wasteful, and useless in times like these
I won't be made useless. I won't be idle with despair
I will gather myself around my faith, for light does the darkness most fear

My hands are small, I know
But they're not yours, they are my own
But they're not yours, they are my own
And I am never broken

Poverty stole your golden shoes. It didn't steal your laughter
And heartache came to visit me, but I knew it wasn't ever after
We'll fight, not out of spite ,for someone must stand up for what's right
'Cause where there's a man who has no voice, there ours shall go singing
...
In the end only kindness matters
I will get down on my knees, and I will pray
...
We are never broken
We are God's eyes, God's hands, God's mind
We are God's eyes, God's hands, God's heart
We are God's eyes, God's hands, God's eyes
We are God's hands
We are God's hands

Now, there's empowerment!

You're absolutely right.....

That's funny that you mention that because at this age, all I think about is the kids. People ask me "What would you like for your birthday, Christmas etc?" Nothing....I've got everything I could ever want. It's all about family now.

"Then why do you buy / collect all this (khuks, militaria etc)" And all I can say is that One day I'll tell them the History behind each item and how it all means something to the current Present. and in the case of the HI khuks, about UB, the guys of the forum and how everyone was there to help one another....not just to buy more Khuks (though there's nothing wrong with that part either :D )

Some people believe that we cannot take anything with us when we die.
But I think that we can take everything with us, in our thoughts, emotions and experiences that we had in this life.

Someone once referred to life's experiences as a Rolodex, you know a card file built onto a rotating axis. Anywho.....everything, every experience is another card in the Rolodex whether good, bad or indifferent. By a certain age, your Rolodex has x or y amount of cards and you're able to make decisions, see past roadblocks, meet and deal with people or things under almost any circumstances as long as you refer to your card file in a speedy organized manner.

The only way to get a Rolodex like that is to go through things....both good & bad.....I think if it was possible, I'd like to leave my Rolodex behind to those I love so they might not have to go through what I've gone through or at least be that much more ahead of the curve.

Our Rolodex can be handed down to our love ones by way of written and/or oral traditions.
My Grandfather once taught me that it’s very important for a man to do three basic things in life: have a child, plant a tree, and write a book.

Amen to that Jose!!

...reading the vibe in this thread, perhaps it's been doing some bubbling up into the Collective Unconscious, and then just sorta washing into us...

I was gonna write a book once. It was going to be half autobiographical and half self-help. I called it "How to make the most of your low I.Q." I never got past the naming the first chapter title, "Duh".

Last night, I decided I was going to write a self-helpish type book (in addition to my planned novels and such). I'm going to call it, I Don't Know (and Probably Don't Care)!

i keep wanting to write the book , its's not as complicated as you think( how to deal with the "real" world.

I'd also like one on "Understanding corporate politics."

That's covered in Bruise's first chapter "Duh"

Uh....Danny, Bruise is serious. His blather is different from other forumites blather in that his blather is always of the humble "poor soul" (remember Jackie Gleason's character) type.

Cracks one up until ya realize he is serious. Hail, Bruise may be Jackie Gleason! :)
