Sheep Head Breaks Music Fan's Skull
Mon Mar 10,12:23 PM ET (AP)

OSLO, Norway - A flying sheep's head hit a concertgoer and fractured his skull at a concert of metal band Mayhem.

The band, part of Norway's death metal music scene, was carving up a dead sheep as part of its stage act when the animal's head flew off lead singer Maniac's knife and struck Per Kristian Hagen, 25.

The show was Thursday in Bergen, 487 kilometers (302 miles) west of the capital, Oslo.

"My relationship to sheep is a bit ambivalent now. I like them, but not when they come flying through the air," Hagen told The Associated Press Monday from his hospital room. "I have a headache now." He is expected to recover.

Hagen, a Mayhem fan, filed involuntary assault and battery charges against the band. The charges carry a maximum sentence of six months in prison.

Mayhem member Rune Eriksen, whose stage name is Blasphemer, said the incident was unfortunate.

"The whole thing was an accident, but maybe it would be an idea for another show," he said.

Eriksen promised Hagen a free ticket to the group's next performance.

Police detective Carl-Petter Leganger told the AP an investigation has started, but "nothing suggests this was a conscious act."

Here is a picture of the unfortunate mucial fan:

Not only was his skull fractured, during surgery they pulled out one part of his skull that had been sunken in and they sort of put it back into place.

On stage they had 3 bull skulls and 3 sheep skulls. I think he was lucky it was not any of the bull skulls.

Black metal is the only musical genre Norway has managed to invent and export to the world.

How embarrasing.

They have insane members like this:

Wow, American metal bands are sissies. That is some crazy stuff. And I always thought Norway was such a well-behaved civilized country:D.

Don’t forget, their ancestors were the Vikings.

If those guys were alive today what kind of music do you think they would be listening to?

Well, my newest musical interest is a Finnish band called Nightwish. Their song that I like best at the moment is a song called Sleeping Sun.

Just install WinMX and download their music from internet to listen.

I don't think what Norway has is new, just more.

..when do they get to the virgins on stage?

I wonder where this fascination with 'satan' has come from? Bizarre. Like, that's the only area left to offend me? (status quo) Bring out the heavy guns; bring out satan?

Too bad these bands can't be laughed off the stage.

Theres a strong Satanic Metal following here in the US. Knew alot of kids growing up who were real into that stuff. Anyone ever listen to Deicide? Some of them were pretty creepy guys though, just not right in the head so to speak. :(

Seems to me anyone who espouses Satan in any form is really just a Christian follwing the other end of the religion. To believe in Satan, you must believe in the Judeo-Christion god, who created and cast Satan down. So, in essence, they're just backing the Losing team inn the religion. (Jesus, God, Satan, Saints, Prophets, angels, Mary, Joseph-- this is monotheistic, right? ;))

I think Aleister Crowley and Anton LeVey were more hedonists than satanists, but I'm an outsider in that arena.

As for Norwegian satanists, Hey-- this is what oyu get when you forcibly transplant an equatorial religion on a circumpolar people and culture. How do you celebrate Palm Sunday in Oslo? Have they even SEEN a palm tree?:)

I was a dj on a metal show at my college radio station when all this stuff started. Always been a huge metal fan. It is laughable in one sense and scary in another. I saw and heard about a lot of weird stuff going on in this scene. Some of the music is damn hard to play and is pretty good but I never got into the message.

I think their main thrill is suppression and the pain they can inflict upon other people by dominating them.

I have read some of them say they support Christianity because Christianity suppresses people. And so if they start mocking Christianity by worshipping the Devil then the Christian faith will only grow stronger as a response. So in their perspective, more faith in Jesus and God by their actions is good because then they will have suppressed people. And if they make someone change side to worship the Devil then that is good too because then they get to dominate them even more when they enter those religious circles.

For them, good is evil, and evil is good.

Well said. Only spiritual confusion can follow by adopting a religion developed and intended for southern people's souls.

Mutilating the carcasses of animals for entertainment is not part of any religion I'm aware of. Sacrifices that are performed among the religions that practice it, are done with great reverance and seriousness.

I suspect the group in question is nothing more than misguided young people seeking an outlet for their energy. Shame for so much potential to be wasted on such utter foolishness.
