I went home for lunch today and turned on the news. Big mistake. Story number 1.

Criminal charges will be filed today in the basketball/fan, fight.
WHY ? no one got hurt and from the little I saw of it, the fans that got the a$$ kicking, deserved it. While this may not be politically correct, I firmly believe that the looming possibility of getting your bell rung, creates a more polite society.

Story number 2.
People are boycotting certain department stores because they refuse to call it Christmas. The stores call it "The Holidays" to be more in step with our multi cultural society. Holidays my fat Aunt Louise's Butt. Christmas is Christmas. If our multi cultural neighbors don't like it, don't celebrate it. Don't try to change it.
Back to story number 1. It appears our Multi Curatorial people in story number 2, need a kick in the a$$ as in story number 1. Then we can get on with CHRISTMAS !

Story number 3.
Congress passed the anti terror bill without the drivers license provision. So what! I'm not in favor of any anti terror bills in the first place but where does congress even get the idea that they can regulate the issuance of drivers license.
The Federal government needs to leave the states to handle their own business. The states need to leave all their citizens alone so they can mind their own business.
Back to story number 1. It seems that the Federal Government needs a Kick in the a$$ as in story number 1 so the citizens in story number 3 can live in peace!

I'm going back to work!

This sound dangerously close to something that may attract the notice of the Dept of Homeland Security. Lets not have any seditious talk here please...

I don't recall voting for any Department of Homeland Security so back to story number 1! :D

Don, I just want to say that the decaffeinated brands can sometimes taste as good as the real thing. :footinmou

Seriously though, #2 gets me jazzed. "The Holidays" Sheesh! Its a bloody Christian holiday. The whole Channuka/Kwanza/etc thing is great, I think, but if you follow one of those faiths, then say it proudly! WHO the hell is going to begrudge you that on YOUR religious holiday - even if they are not a follower? How could we allow ourselves to degrade the joy on the season like this? Maybe we need to look at who we ar offending? Hmmm... lets see... hmmmm... all I can come up with is anyone who aren't of the religious persuasion that follows this chronological holiday. Without tossing out a whole slew of religions and beliefs, its damn near anyone who isn't even remotely Christian, or following some offshoot of Christianity or Judaism. Correct? So my only question isthis:

Why are these people out shopping for Christmas/Channuka/Kwanza gifts during this season. To me it makes no sense at all, unless... hippocrasy? If you don't believe, then why give gifts to symbolize the Gift of The Magi?

Picture me shrugging my shoulders in bewilderment.

Almost all religions celebrate the winter solstice, which is a yearly astronomical event due to the tilt of the earth's axis with respect to the plane of it's orbit.

Feasts and gift giving have marked the season for longer than the modern religions have been in existance. As each came into prominence, it would adopt the earlier religion's holidays and make them their own.

This is a universal holiday for humans whatever you call it.

Don; Is it your time of the month
I only get this way when I watch the news George...or read a newspaper, or talk to LEO's, Hmmmmmm  :D

I'll tell you how bad it's gotten.

I hate the local Sheriffs Department and go out of my way to start an argument. The other day I went to the bank and when I came out, one was parked beside my jeep. He looked at me and I asked if they were giving free dough nuts at the bank now and started to leave.

He walked over and said excuse me sir, but did you know your tags have expired. (The fact is, I didn't) that looked like a perfect time to start an argument since I was going to get a ticket anyway. I said.....no but I figured you all would let me know when they did. He looked at me and smiled and said.....fair enough, I just did. He walked to the bank. Hmmmm, somethings wrong here....I asked if he wasn't going to give me a ticket and he said "Oh no, I just wanted to let you know".

Now talk about dirty tactics, being nice while on duty. That ruined my entire day! :grumpy: I know he did that on purpose!

Ship him down here! The cops here would have had you in handcuffs for the donut comment.....and made you sit in the car while they were in the local Waffle House to boot!

Doc

I hate it when the cops don't slam your face in the dirt for jaywalking. :p :p :p

Peace on Earth Bro.

Don; You should live in my neighborhood, because you wouldn't mine the police being around. This year in a three block radius of my house has been four drive by murders. On my block I am the minority.

We don't get much of that here George. In all honesty and no jokes, that's the difference between a state where only the bad guys carry guns and a state where everyone carries one.

Richmond is the exception because there are no Good Guys there.

The cops in this county are the problem. The Sheriff keeps hiring Deputies for whatever reason. He has a very bad reputation so none of the better cops will come here to work. All we get are the ones that have been fired elsewhere and the Rambo wannabes.

There isn't much in th way of crime here so the Deputies have to be creative.

That's you George. What self respecting hoodlum would dare cross your path. I'm talking about Kerryites! :footinmou

It don't matter to me Bushites, Kerryities, Whiteites and etc. They will all receive the same justice if they intrude into my domain. :D

IG, even the cops are afraid to go into your neighborhood! They know also, they won't have to arrest a burglar at your house!

John: They did increase the police presents for a while. I have a few friend on the force. I was coming home and on the corner of the housing projects was a cop that was my friend so I stopped and talked him and ask him what is going on??? He said that "he is the target for tonite in the projects".
