Well, to make a long story short. A guy who used to be a neighbor of mine showed up at my door the other night. He was drunk and I told him to get lost, repeatedly and with assertion cause he wouldent leave. Not thinking I did not call the police. The next morning one of my tires were throughly gutted. (He didnt have the cajones to do all 4, or just too drunk.)
My car dosent run anyway, so having tires dosent matter much. I will probably buy my brothers in Jan when he moves up north.
I called the police, and they said that they couldent do anything unless "I saw him do it". So now I am stuck thinking of what to do, besides call the police immediately, when I see him again.

(BTW, I didnt post this earlier cause it would have made me that much angrier.)

I am currently carrying a Benchmade (forget the model) and a Spyderco Delica. The Delica just came back from the factory for a new clip, and it still has their edge on it (read: SHARP!)

I have 3.5 years of martial arts at 6 hours a week, 2 knives on me, countless others at home, a few things that go "Boom" and the knowledge to use them properly, and a HI kat that sits beneath my bed that is getting stropped until "scary" sharp tonight.

All I know is that this guy better behave himself.

All I ever do is walk to and from campus, so a Conceiled Carry liscense is out of the question. Knowing that Texas law doesn't allow you to carry more than a 5.5" blade on you without a darn good reason, what would you do?

Never mind weaponry, its always amazing what a swift kick to the cajones can do:D especially when wearing steel toed boots:eek:

Dave,

Put the sharp things down and step away for a minute. What the guy did to you sucks. But, you got to use your head in this one.

If you know where he is then send him a bill for the tires. Just write him a polite and concise note reminding him of what he did, attach a couple of price quotes for the replacement tires, and mail it to him. Give him a chance to write back and tell you off. He might just be stupid enough to confess in the process.

It is possible, if he was really drunk, that he might just send you a check. Violence, or even discussing the possibility of resorting to violence, is ill advise. If he really is a loser, then you are the one who has the most to lose.

Nope, dont know where he is. He used to live a few doors down. Then he moved away.
The apt owner and manager know about it, they too have no idea where he ran off to. I know better than to leap to an act of war when an act of diplomacy would be better. The more I think about it the more I think that I will never see the guy again.

"If he really is a loser, then you are the one who has the most to lose." Thanks N2S, good advice.

Just thinking through the "what if's". And right now this is the biggest "what if" on my mind.
(That and I think I am attempting to convince myself to buy another knife.)

I like the letter idea - too bad you won't be able to use it. I doubt the police would take a kind view of knifing somebody in defense of your tires, and ceremonial decapitation is probably out, too.

THE HELL WITH HIM FOR NOW! WAIT A BIT AND A BIT LONGER.HE'LL COME ROUND AGAIN AND THEN GET A CAM CORDER AND HAVE IT READY. ;) Set it at the ready,THINK.:D BE ......... FRANK

Copied my post from another thread.

Ever see the movie 'RoadHouse' ?
In my 10 years of leasing a bar.

12 tires sliced in the sidewall
2 windshields knocked out
3 side windows knocked out
3 headlights smashed

Got to carrying two spares.
Slept a couple of nights in the bar.

Twice during the time, was able to catch them in the act.
One when I got ahold of him, kept falling down, repeatedly. Wonder why. He would get up and damn'd if he didn't fall down again. He never showed up for court appearance and warrant was put out for his arrest. Never heard another word about it.

Another was driving a big SUV and got away. Some how within the next week or so, all his tires were destroyed along with every window in the thing. Didn't have any more trouble with him.

Talk about insurance rates, IF I had claimed all that. Took it out of my pocket. In many instances, hadn't had the tire more than a couple of days. Sure gets the temper boiling!!!!!!!!!

And here Uncle Bill was telling me the last time I saw him what a sweet guy you were lcs37! ;)

Unfortunately, I have my moments!:)
Can't stand a person who does things behind your back. Too cowardly to stand up to you face to face. Besides I worked hard for my things and to have some one destroy them, riles me up. :grumpy:

Normally, I'm a nice easy going guy, but don't touch my family, friends or property to hurt them or damage them.

I don't know about decapitation, but I've always suspected a guy with a pickup that has a winch could probably get away with throwing the cable over an oak tree branch and stringing the s.o.b. up on the spot in a few rural areas, even today.

lcs37 - your "moments" would be considered your civic duty by more than a few of us. Since fear of the cops doesn't stop these folks, obviously someone has to point out to them in language they understand that they did something that really really displeases the other citizens of the area.

In Nevada outside Washoe ( Reno ) and Clark ( Las Vegas ) counties, it's well to remember the effect mining has on our state, i.e. a disproportionate percentage of our residents have knowledge and familiarity with explosives.

Same thing goes for here, Rusty. Except substitute "mining" with "logging," and "explosives" with "ax handles." :D

Bad news. We all have our moments and the initial reaction is almost always how to attain immediate justice and this clouds our good sense. We all do it. n2s gives good advice. Back off, cool off, consider all the options you can think of and consider the consequences of each option. Then act.

I thought, I considered, I acted.

Background: I was dealing with a segment of the 'Mexican Mafia'.
Respect only a stronger force. Not afraid of the law. Get in trouble, duck down to Mexico, until things cooled off, than come back.
It took me 6 months to clean up the bar, than was callenged periodically for 10 years. I stood my ground , was aware of circumstances, got careless a couple of times, but overall made it thru the 10 yr lease ALIVE. I had the somewhat advantage of being the 'PATRON'. I briefly stopped in at the Bar about a year after my lease was up. The new owner had let his clients, rip up the carpet, slach the table chairs, barstools. Looked like hell. Noticed a few people I had '86'd', realized I no longer was the 'PATRON', not for me to hang around. The new owner wanted me to come back and manage the place. HA HA. Not after he lost control!!!

this person who slashed your tires, he was at your house drunk. this leads me to believe that he must of got drunk somewhere close to where you live. he might still live close by. keep an eye out for him. when you spot him, no talking, no arguing, just hit him with everything you got(fistacuffs, no weapons), spit in his face while he is on the ground, then insult his mother, then give him a good stomping. if time and situation permits, take his wallet and reimburse yourself for the damage to your tires, and go have yourself a sandwich. cotto salame is very good.

Well SamuraiDave, I'd certainly not feel comfortable physically attacking a person for destroying an object. Vengeance for a tire is a bit absurd. Revenge is a powerful but soul-consuming endeavor. To get vengeance is to make youself all focused on the sole goal of planning and executing the method of retribution, which puts the spirit off-center, and the hate can consume the soul further.

What's done is done, the past is immutable. It's the now and the future that's really exciting!

"I have 3.5 years of martial arts" Keep it up. I found the more MA and combatives training I got, the less i fought. Martial Arts is weird like that, if you get past the body movements and into the mind.

If there must be compensation, perhaps this induhvidual will understand his wrongdoing and perhaps make it right in the future.

Good luck, keep cool.

Keith
