On the 24 of this month I was taking the back roads home and taking the streets with the least stop signs. Well here comes Mr. Assumption that ALL intersections are 4-way stops and as I am driving by....he proceeds......right into my passenger side, striking from the front bumper, tire, fender and door, also leaving a nice little scratch down to the bed of my mighty S10. She is an old ugly brute, 92 model, damn...it's mine..insurance is $24 a month on it and it even gets about 24-26 mpg. No serious damage, but knocks me into the other lane. I get out to check on the gentleman....who is 88 to make sure he and his wife are alright. So as hw come over to my truck he begins to ask me not to call the insurance company or police as my truck is old and not worth much...at this point I was ready to kick him in the hip. The truck is mine...gets me from point A to B (V6 4.3 liter) and it was my grandfathers truck, now it has 84K miles, 39 when I got it. Well that SOB offers me $50 not to call the cops......blood pressure rising. As I pull out my call, the ante is upped to a WHOPPING $100....wow, how could I say no.........maybe because an estimate cost more than that! He gets uppity with me telling me I should just take the money as my truck is worthless. That is may be, but I cannot afford to replace it at current time, so I call the cops and have a report made. Today I was able to take it to the body shop and just looking at it, the fellow said it was TOTALED! The value was roughly 1900-2100 and the repairs would run at least 1400 without going under to see if the steering was compromised. Older parts, harder to find, then painting everything to match. So the good news is that the Body shop owner said I can settle with Sate Farm and come to an agreement in price between the Repair cost and the value of the truck if I feel so inclined. He said I might be able to get 1100-1250 out of then and keep my truck as it. Like I said...it is my work truck...not a show truck, I don't go looking to pick up chicks in it or take it to show...so I figure if I play my cards right.......I WILL HAVE EXTRA MONEY FOR KNOB CREEK!!!!:D

Sorry for the rant. This is as good as Busse's money...I wonder if they can go ahead and wire it to Ohio?;)

gosh, why didn't you just take the money? :D

I once had an old POS Toyota that some drunk idiot hit while it was parked outside my work. . . ended up with an $1100 check and a ugly car I drove for a couple more years. (Only paid $500 for it)

Alright --- that would buy a few more FBM protos!!!

Well, something like 1.4 after sales tax ;):p BUT... Congrats on it working out well, Jason.

I've not called the insurance/police on a couple of occasions to help someone out but they better view it as gracious charity - not, "worthless piece of crap" or some garbage such as that.

See you at the Creek, bro! Let me know if you need anything.

Judging by your taste in knives, I would be suprised if that went very far, but extra cash is always a good thing.

You might look into getting the check sent to Ohio, just for the sake of efficiencly.

Because we all know that all of your extra money will end up there eventually.

Good for you Bro! Glad nobody was hurt as well.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.............. you just gave me an idea how I can afford to go to Blade West.;):D (Just Kidding)

A few years back I was driving an old Mercedes and one day I stopped to admire a nicer looking Mercedes in a parking lot. The owner saw me and asked if I wanted to buy it for $1,000. It was probably worth at least $5,000 but I didn't have the money to buy it.

A few days later, some old lady makes a left turn in to my beat up old Mercedes and totals it. I got a check for $3,800.

Then I went back to the $1,000 Mercedes and snatched it up.

It's a nice feeling to upgrade your car and drive away with $2,800 in your pocket.

I talked to the body shop today and they underestimated the value of my "beater" ......so I should be getting a bit more than previously thought!!!!!! Oh please please please....daddy needs a new piece of INFI!!!!

Sounds like a perfect beater... you should take that $1100 or so, keep the truck, and maybe collect a few more checks on her over the next 10 years?

My first car... a pristine acura integra (saved for her for 4 years)... and she got clipped in the rear bumper 4 times in 14 months always in the same spot LOL. I took the money the first three times (780-1200 each time) without making any repairs, and the fourth time it was hit, i had it fixed... and she never got hit again... It was a very profitable bumper... Don't knock it till you tried it.

HAHAHAHHAHHAHAHA I finally am feeling good about this! Just spoke to the Insurance company and am getting 1961.01 as a cash out on the S-10!!! Knob Creek HERE I COME!!!!!

Sorry Eric....might not be too much left for you!

If you'd stop buying Busse knives, you might be able to afford a better truck.:D
Spend the money quick before something else comes along.

In the immortal words of the Chappell Show....."I'm RICH BIT....."

The check came today...I would like to thank State Farm for making my Busse Dreams come true!!!!
