It's called a pacoul, pretty much standard headgear in the northern provinces of Afghanistan. Speaking of Afghanistan, I didn't forget the fragment of the old stone Buddha from the Bamiyan valley, it's in there too.

That's the one that rolls up? The Tajiks wear it, IIRC. I bought one from an Afghan street vendor in DC about 10 years ago. Very warm, but kind of scratchy.

One and the same Spence. It'll probably look just fine on Uncle Bill, but I don't recommend he wears it on his bike rides.

I have one of those. It's one of the warmest hats I own, but as spence mentioned, it is a bit on the scratchy side.
