I've always thought that those who are unwilling to serve their country should not be allowed citizenship. these brave souls prove they deserve their citizenship even as i type this. God bless 'em all & my thanks, citizenship is the least they deserve & i hope y'all back home never forget their sacrifices that they suffer for us. don't matter what color, race or national origin as long as they have the ideals of the USA in their hearts, they are true americans.
this reminds me of the roman auxilliaries who would serve 20 yrs and be granted citizenship on retirement (main heavy roman infantry legions were recruited only from citizens, at least up to right near the end).
that was one thing that brought about the decline of western rome, when they started depending on disinterested barbarian mercenaries to defend themselves, instead of citizens & those striving for citizenship, and the barbars eventually just took over.
i wonder what history will say about us in 1500 years.....
