WOW!!

This has been quite a month. I've not been able to keep up with much here so I hope I didn't miss too many exciting sales or other important news. I did see that Sarge is back, That is great news.

The month started with getting my new job at the PD and immediately working 2 weeks at the substation by my house to fill in for the secretaries....that was great fun and also informative. Did you know that with all the new homeland security stuff the officers have so much more paperwork to do that we probably have seriously fewer of them on the streets.....which could be good for those who are prone to questionable behavior, but in reality, that's a bummer.

Then I had an CT scan done and everyone freaked out because they found a mass growing where it wasn't supposed to be.....but we think that maybe it's just that my insides are out or order.....so more scans and pokes and prods are planned to rule out the C word. Just what I needed.....finally get a fun exciting job and now this......oh well, that's life.

The actual job I'm doing on a regular basis is Victims Assistance. I will be on a team that goes out to all accicents, Domestic Violence calls and death notifications with the officers. My job is to provice comfort and education to victims of violent crimes. The center that we have here in Mesa is, I guess, the only one of it's kind in the nation and we do training for other departments who are trying to establish one in a location near you. So far it's been very interesting and also heartwrenching. We had a baby drowning last week and had to do interviews with all the kids at the daycare where the drowning occured and someone had to explain to the older children that their little friend had died. I didn't have to do it this time, but will be doing just that soon. So the training and all that they provide is pretty extensive and very thorough. I'm looking forward to getting out on the streets soon. We only have 31 people to cover 90 shifts a month and sometimes there are several calls on one shift, so we are stretched pretty thin. And of course we are all volunteers and most of the others work full time jobs. So those of us who don't get to pull more time. That's what I wanted and that's what I'm getting. I'm looking forward to the challenge.

And on top of everything I got called for jury duty yesterday at superior court down in Phoenix. I was so glad to not get chosen. It was lawyers fighting for insurance salesman......the 2 worst categories in life.....well there are some good ones, but not many and we would all be better off with a lot less of both. :foot:

I noticed that when Spark pruned, the sale thread for Rusty was deleted....or at least I can't find it. I will say that I only have the really nice Claymore, A Casablance style sword and 4 15-16" Khuks left. Oh, yeah, a 2 headed battle ax, too......not me.....a tool   The swords are like new, the rest are blems. Mary is now getting bids on the roof. She had to have a whole bunch of dental work done which took priority, but now will be doing the roof. So if we could unload the rest of these and help her out with one last check, that would be nice. I'm going to take some more pics and will post them on the exchange......so hopefully this isn't breaking any rules mentioning it here on this little mini book thread. If so.....ban me :D what can I say   :D ;)

Hang tough Gin, the roller coaster goes up and down. The sales thread for Rusty's collection is still there, just gotta hunt for it (Production knives for sale by individual, Page 2)http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=350653

Saw the old Khyber knife that I gave Rusty when I got back from the 'Stan, in there amongst the first group of blades. Brought back some memories. Included some background info on the knife in the sale thread for the benefit of whoever was lucky enough to snag it. Special blade, hope it brought Rusty some pleasure.

Thanks for the insight, Greg, I emailed the recipient with the link so he can see what he managed to snag.

Good to hear from you Gin. Prayers your way and hang in there. And thanks for the job with the victims unit. It's nice to know there are good people around when your life turns to s--t.
