OT: Winter wear.

Keep warm through the cold winter with these:

BUFFALO CHIPS Served as fuel for fires and was powdered on babies to keep them dry. Each patty is $4.00 or three for $10.00

I wonder if the prices are equivalent to value...ie...a robe would buy food for 4 months now...did it carry the same value then?

Beautiful stuff though...

Many cold nights in the desert I kept warm with a fire of burro chips. If I had to pay that price for them I could have rented a motel room.

The robes would have been extremely valuable then. Despite my kidding about the one item on the list, please notice how thoroughly even now they offer every possible salable part of the buffalo. The robe itself was warmth in the winter, but it also represented the rest of the wealth the buffalo provided, including food.

It's hard to compare the value because nomadic Indians would have a had a limited number of possessions they could reasonably carry, increasing the utility value of each, while food would have been a constant requirement.
