Any of you wood chucks know of a good source for a wood jewelry box? I have done google searches and found many. I was looking to check out custom stuff
from craftsman who may not have a high google presence. Any ideas? Thanks.

How fancy a box are you looking for?

I think leevalleytools.com had a couple unfinished ones as project kits awhile back.

Or I could slap together a few 2x4s if you want a custom made one. Real cheap too. :D

Send me the jewelry and I'l come up with somethig, sometime, whenever.

Mross,

You might try finding a custom woodworker in your area and asking them. A lot of times they are one person shows, and tablesaws take up their time instead of computers, so they don't have a website.

Just a thought.

Or check woodworking mags, the local woodworking supply, or internet forums. If you're near a city, many art galleries carry craft items, including boxes. You have to find the right sort of gallery, though. If you find a craft-type place, and they don't have anything you're interested in, it would be worth talking to the owner - (s)he might have contact with some good woodworkers.

And a good thought too. I'll take the 2X4's first and last!

did a lot of searching, the big name is Barton & Reed, they make silverware
cases as well. There are lots of custom guys out there but to be honest they are way expensive and some look like home hobby projects. I ended up buying her a burl inlayed barton reed and she loves it......

I am in the process of doing the searching. I have seen the Barton & Reed and liked them. I was hoping to expand my search and maybe go custom, but like you said they are pricey. I am looking at the B&R Athena, which one did you get? Any chance of some pics?

I have an Italian music box jewelry box that is absolutely stunning. I love the inlaid work of the Italians. It is made by Reuge. They even have swords and knives ;) but the box is very well made and very beautiful.

Italian work is beautiful! You got that right! I have considered that for my wife, also.
