Dear all, As far as I know, G 10, Micarta and lots of other material names in the knives industry are brand names. Am I right?
I found a source of the following (as the distributer's site declares):

3021 Phenolic paper laminate are made of electric insulating craft paper impregnated with phenolic resin and processed under heat and pressure.

Model 3025 lamination sheet is made of cloth impregnated with phenolic resin and hot pressed. With its excellent mechanical property, this sheet is suitable for use in transformer oil and for insulating pieces or parts in machineries, motors and various electric appliances.

Epoxy phenolic resin
This glass cloth laminate is made of base free electric glass cloth, impregnated with epoxy phenolic resin and hot pressed. With its high mechanical and dielectric properties, this laminate is designed for use in motor and electric equipments as insulating components, in humid conditions and transformer oil.

What materials from these are G10? Micarta?
Will these materials will any good for knives handles?
Thanks a lot - Michael.

by the description, I'd say the model 30's would be Micarta and the glass cloth would be the G series.

Westinghouse made the original stuff i believe for the same insulating purpose. Its still highly sought after.Doesnt seem that it can be duplicated for some reason,or not very well.
