Kyp, M40 is a great place. Down to earth real info. Mike does a great job with that site.
As far as other forums, I have poked around, and find this one, right here at Bladeforums to be pretty darn good, good people, reasonable, and reasonable topics, with a dash of humor.
I have found the bible-thumpin' Biblical prophecy survival sites, but I think I might have to drink snake venom to survive them.
I have found the "World is Ending" sites, doom, destruction, cataclysmic Nuclear Asteroids from Space carrying the Plague / Alien DNA. These forums are pretty bizzarro.
I have found some of the leftover 1980's style Paramilitary Survival Compound forums. Come join our band of brothers as we stockpile ammo and train our kids to fight the coming invasion of NorthAmerica. Man, getting a swastica inked on my forehead wasn't in my plans.
Even found those "Earth Changes" sites, where the magnetic poles of the earth will shift suddenly, the Antartic will become Sub tropical and equatorial Africa will be Glacier-ville. Uh, well, OK, I guess I'll keep it in mind and deal with that one on a "grab ankle" basis.
So, those are the ones to watch out for. If any of their EXACT scenarios come true, they will be the best prepared, however, if not, they are SOL as they are too focussed on a specific "prophecy" situation, a pre-disposed way it will be.
I like the fact that in here, at Bladeforums Wilderness/Survival forum we don't seem to focus on any given threat, but more, we look at those general across-the-board skills and tools that can be used for many types of situations. This forum also does one thing pretty well, it stays grounded on the concept of Shelter, Water, Fire, Food, First Aid, Navigation.
We don't tend to dwell on the Nuclear War, or the Tsunami. We focus on the basic skills & equipment that see most people through most difficulties.
Thanks to everyone here, for all the wisdom they share.
