Ok, we have talked about MD and Walter Brend.

How about Greg Lightfoot, Jim Hammond, Pat Crawford, RJ Martin, Peter Bauchop, Phil Hartsfield, Jim Piorek, Bob Terzuola (yes he has made fixed blades), David Broadwell, Bud Nealy, Kit Carson, Bob Dozier.

Have I forgot anyone? Of course I have. Lets get some more info from you posters!

Yes, and I'd be interested if anyone's got any field experience with Bob Kasper's Scorpion, particular in the arena of knife fighting.

I will second that RJ Martin makes excellent fixed blades (of which I have 3.) Ernest Mayer of Black Cloud Knives also makes great fixed blades that are a steal at his prices.

Les,

Allen Elishewitz started and still makes a fine line of fixed blades. I have one of his more basic and inexpensive models, the Mission. basically a slab of ATS-34 with G10 scales bolted on. But the geometry, edge holding, and fast handling of the design makes up for the basics of this model. He has some really nice stuff like a SERS and Persian Fighter that do a much better job of showing off his detail work. For what it's worth, the new Benchmade-Elishewitz fixed blade has it's roots in this Mission model I have.... very similar in execution although the blade styles are different as are the OAL...mine is longer.

I'll go from lurker to poster because as Bladeforums strives to be UNBIASED, this is an important thread that needs to be contributed to.

I own a few fixed tacticals by Jim Hammond. Jim makes exceptional knives. He has a long history of working with military types as well as martial artists, and has specialized
in this area as long or longer than almost anyone who is considered a "tactical" expert.

Along with tactical design expertise, Jim's execution is flawless. In addition, he's courteous and communicates promptly -- very professional.

i am eagerly awaiting my first fixed blades from T.H. RINALDI, a fellow califorian! nothing but good things i have heard about this maker. i will post a review once they are in my hands for a few days of service.

I think Fred Perrin of France should be on this list as well.

I only own his "La Griffe" neck knife, which is very utilitarian and very effective in design and function. (No frills.)

However, I have seen and handled some of his other knives, and they are very well made and balanced.

Fred is currently featured in the December issue of Knives Illustrated.

I also admire the work of the other makers mentioned here and hope to add some to my collection at some point.

Hi Les
I remember the first time I saw Jim Hammonds work in an early Warners book,Boy his design and grind lines were fantastic.I believe the knife was called the "Sting" a double edged boot it really impressed me.How about Charles Oches his Special ops Bowie is quite a piece of work. And for pure fighters Harold Corby is right up there.I'm out on the East Coast and we have are share of top makers.J.D.Smith for fine Damascus knives with Persian influence.Jot Khalsa which say's it all.Jim Siska does some great work. One maker that I think is extremelt underated is Jim Turcek from CT.He produces some top quality knives.I've left out a lot of local makers but then this would be the size of a small novel. It's good to draw attention to the other makers out there instead of the same small circle of makers always mentioned on these forums.

One maker that I comes to mind is Lloyd Pendleton, His lines are Classic, beautiful finish. My favorite and a knife I have drooled over for about 5 years and keeps calling me is a sub hilt fighter with sheep horn scales. It is a beauty. Ed Fowler sheep horn scaled blades are very nice too. My $.02
