are there any manufacturers out there who make bags with weather treated fabric? I'd like something heavy duty and water repellent like maxpedition.
my predicament:
I'm pretty happy with the bags I have right now, though at some point I'd like to get a mid sized (3000ci) framed pack to bridge the gap between the vulture 2 and my massive 7000ci+ framed packs. Mostly I'm having problems finding a weather treated laptop bag that fits my lenovo g550 (15.5" from side to side)
from maxpedition i've tried:
operator attache - perfect size, but being an attache it flops over. it also does not have zippered pockets, most are flap closure - something I don't want for small items.
mpb - my laptop is 15.5" across and the mpb is 14.5. It fits, but it pushes the sides out and makes it so the side pockets are flexed and limited.
mbp xxl - GIANT. absolutely mammoth by comparison, this is luggage or a range/patrol bag, not a laptop bag.
from mobile edge - their eco friendly messenger bag. I hate messenger bags (which I learned from that one).
and from condor - their 3 way laptop case.
I really liked the condor, it just wasn't weather proofed and didn't have enough pockets. The mpb would be absolutely perfect in every way IF it was 1" wider. I've bought a balthazar gear bag to see how that works out, I really don't like the idea of the diagonal zipper (much prefer top or panel load) but it's dimensions claim 'fits 15.5" laptop'. I figure with the extra internal space I can throw in a 6x9 padded pouch and a few others, stuff that won't push to hard on the laptop front. IF it fits. it may be just as mammoth as the mpb xxl, the photo's and dimensions are deceiving on a lot of the stuff I've bought.
