I've probably settled on a CQC-14 as my EDU for the next few years. What kicked me into that particular tool is the handle - if you can cut up 20 boxes in one session without your hand picking up a hot spot - this is a really comfortable daily use tool.BTW - this is one of the areas where FB's blow away almost all folders.
So Emerson makes a number of styles of handles to suit various tasks.Probably a majority of their folders use a visually obvious motif ( CQC-14,16,Police Utility,Super Commander ,8,11,13) - is there a accepted name for this handle design?

I dont think there is a standard name for the various handles but there is ranges of knives that all have similar handle ergos.
I suppose you could name them from the original knife to have the design.

imho most all the EKI's i've seen and handled, custom & production, had great handle ergos, i like the ones that have a deep finger groove to provide a secure grip, like the '13 and to a lesser degree the '12, but all offer excellent ergos, its EKI's strong point over a lotta other brands imho, that said i have never heard any terms used to describe this or that handle by name, specwar refers to the custom stuff & thats what its stamped "emerson specwar knives" vs "emerson knives inc" on the productions, and they made a production called a specwar, but i havent heard that term used to describe any handles myself.

I had heard/seen knives like the SOCFK and the 11 referred to as having a "Specwar" handle since it was the same style as the production Specwar folder.
