other type of survival kit

It's just a thought, but why not make your kit using an MSR or other type of lightweight pot as the container? Include a ziplock or two to hold stuff while cooking.
Obviously not a pocket kit, but still small enough to go anywhere in a small day pack or bitch bag (Canadian for fanny pack). Some come with a nice nylon bag as well, which may or may not be handy.

I have been in minimalist situations, and a pot is one of those things that is just too hard to improvise.

I am not trying to claim this my idea, as it has ben used before by many many people, but it does not seem to be very popular.

I like to boil water if fire is easy to make and fuel is plentiful, like it is in northern Canada, because there is no filter to clog, and no iodine to taste or run out of.

Thoughts????

i have been very happy with kits made in canteen cup, or a german or swedish mess kit from "cheaper than dirt" or "sportsmans guide", all which fit on a belt, and have ample room to contain essentials for an unanticipated event. the cooking container is the most difficult thing to improvise, you can boil your water, cook you food, even dig a hole with one if you need to.

The only problem with the Nalgene bottle is the Nalgene boils before the water:p

Seriously, though, if you use plastic, you can save money and just use an old peanut butter container, if you don't want to use your nalgene. They are a little lighter, too.
