After cleaning or trying to clean my Ruger Mark lll today I decided I was sick of spending 20 min trying to find all the little bits and pieces in my cleaning kit to put together before even starting to clean. Also the cheap brushes were leaving tiny brass wires behind.I ran up to Gander Mt as I thought they might have better kits than Wal Mart plus I had 17.00 on a gift card.Saw an end cap full of the made in China kits like I had for 24.99.I thought "I am not buying another one of these" so I asked if they had any more. The guy showed me to the isle with the kits and pointed out the Otis.First thing I noticed was the Made in USA on the package and that the brushes looked to be made well.I popped the 49.00 for the model 750 that cleans everything from .17 to 12 ga.
Just cleaned a 10/22,Ruger Mark lll and my sons pellet gun.I have got to say that this is the best thing I have bought in a while, very compact with out a ton of pieces and did a great job.
If you are in the need it would be hard to beat one of these.

Any pull through has the potential to break and leave a brush or patch stuck in the bore...just a word of caution..be sure brushes and patches appropriate to bore size.

Yeah, put a patch on wrong first thing and it came off in the barrel. It was no problem as I just ran the cable back down the barrel and pushed it out.The cables with the kit are much stiffer than they look.

I really like my Otis. I've got the kit you have, the only thing I didn't like was it doesn't come with a rod long enough for my Remington 700. I've got a Tipton that's long enough, but I was trying to build an all inclusive BOB kit. So I called Otis. they don't make a 36" cable like I needed, but they do a 40. It ain't cheap, but after adding this, I've got a kit that'll clean anything I own that's small enough to fit on my belt.

Did yours come with the 8 in cable too.
The one I got did so I can screw the two together for a 38 in cable.

Otis is a great tool, I have pulled some pretty big "plugs" of cotton tee shirt patches through my .308 without any problems of breakage. I read that .22LR needs very little(rare) cleaning of the barrel, and only needs the powder residue cleaned from the chamber if ejections, or not fully chambered rds becomes a problem. It's said, that barrels are worn out faster by cleaning, than shooting. Take a look at rimfirecentral.com, a lot more knowledge on the subject there. I shoot a lot of pcp airguns, and i only clean if accuracy falls off.

Yeah, but I didn't want a 2 piece that ain't rigid if that makes sense. If by some chance it unscrewed down in the barrel, it'd be a SOB to get loose.

I have nothing but good to say about Otis. There is a story behind why I like them.

I have the big 100$ kit that does everything. I love it. I also have a .17hmr. I went to clean it the first time with my Otis kit. Well I did something wrong and got the patch and eyelet STUCK in the barrel:mad:

I tried everything to get it out!! It was STUCK STUCK. I had pretty much given up on ever shooting this gun again. I had tried pounding it out with a rod and hammer and It wouldn't move.

SO I called Otis, to see if they had any ideas, cuz I was all out. I talk to a girl who is very knowledgeable and suggested a few things. Nothing worked. She talked to her boss and he said send them the gun on their DIME.

I got a call about a week or so later and they said they were sending me a BRAND NEW gun! I told them several times it had to be a mistake I made. And they didn't need to do that. She said they already had my new gun on its way and felt like it was an issue of theirs. They also send me a new complete .17 hmr kit.

I was very impressed with their customer service. And I really like their products.

Yeah, the patches look like they would be very easy to make.
