Hello,
I know there are several art-interested people on the forums that might be able to help me. I am searching for a painting (I think the original is painted into some church in Italy (Ravenna maybe)) that depicts

Emperor Constantine in the battle at the Milvian bridge 312 - Constantine is said to have dreamt before the battle "In this sign you shall conquer" and had a vision of a cross or the chrismon (chi-rho).

Anyone any idea where to find it?

Thank you in advance

Andreas

Can I ask what you need it for? Have anything to do with the KKK?

Hm - thank you so far.

It is because I want to compare it to a drawing of Hitler in one of my history lessons.

The pic is seen here (it is not a black-and-white drawing originally)
Hitler

Hitlers pic

There are certain parallels to the Constantine-painting I have in my head - the cross in the sky (in the Hitler-pic it is a wheel with with wings), the "leader" in front of the masses who carry the labarum (in the Hitler-pic the swastica-banners) and so on.

My aim is to teach that Hitler worked very much with media and tricks he learned from the church (as he sais in "Mein Kampf") and built a parallel religion to the christian one - but with very different aims. The comparrison of the two paintings would make a good start.

Thank you

Andreas

Have anything to do with the KKK

not really - but close enough as you read above...

Actually I read about a guy from Germany who travelled through the US on his own motorcycle. He was from Cologne (Koeln) and his number-plate said K-KK 345 or so. He had not been aware that this could mean something as he had been issued this number by the office in Germany - and he was beaten up badly...
