Was looking at their website, have always wanted their nautical knife, seems they have some other really cool carbon work knives low priced

Anybody got any comments on these knives ?

They are great knives. Very well put together and easily carried. This one was gifted to me by Andi. The blade of this knife is carbon steel; however, the bolsters, liners, and spring are stainless steel.

There have been several writeups on the Otter Messer knives here in Traditional - one just a couple of weeks ago. Use the search function to find them.

Do you mean Otter-Messer? They make the Mercator K55, a nice low cost knife that's been around for a decades. I like the K55 a lot. I haven't tried their other knives but it's probably the same steel. There's a video tour of their manufacturing on the web.

Hmmm. Now I "need" one of those. :)

Great knives rather ubiquity here in Europe. I have several. Quality is high and price is affordable.

I don't really like Katzmesser. It cuts like a laser but fit and finish is too primitive for me. I have some of them, so I had a chance to form a judgement.

But all the other product lines are perfect.

Owner of this firm is real traditional knife enthusiast and friend of our local russian speaking forum.

I agree with zharik, not that keen on the Katzmesser for the same reasons.

Otter Messer come in bone and woods some are stainless too I believe. Andi has shown some nice examples and they're a very traditional unpretentious Old School German knife. Workhorses.

I like the K55 it's seems primitive much in the way of the Douk-Douks, my douk is one of may favorite carry pocket knives since don't mine beating it up due to durability and low cost, looks like K55 just a step up from the Douk, the nautical knife has my eye the most, recently grabbed an antique case whaler her on the forum, very similair

It'd be very easy to edit the thread title

Tapatalk has a mind of its own on spell corrections

And I am sloppy on a iPhone kinda like when emails or posts annotate it was sent from an iPhone as if it's some automatic excuse for typos and bad grammar :)
