I was cutting some zip ties with my BM CE Mini Grip (S30V), slipped and cut a pretty deep cut in my left index finger.

And yes, there was blood.

It´s something that will happen when you take every chanse to use your knife. I keep my knifes sharp (very sharp with my Sharpmaker) so it was a very clean cut that will heal in a day or two. No need for stitches.

Thats the benefit of using expensive, quality-knifes. When you cut yourself (not horrific deep), clean the wound and put on a band-aid and forget about it. With a cheaper knife I propably would have to take a trip to the hospital. A cheaper, not-so-sharp knife with mystery-crap-steel would probably produced a much uglier wound. So, keep em sharp for saftey!!

amen. A sharp knife will cut much easier than a dull one and if you "nick" yourself it heals much better.

Like Spiderman would say "With great power comes great responsibility."

If you are going to keep your knives very sharp, you must exercise a lot of caution when using them. A blunt knife may create a nastier cut but it won't go as deep as a razor-sharp knife. When you go deep enough you risk tendon and nerve damage. It's give and take, really.

that wasn't spiderman it was uncle ben, but yes sharp knife cuts heal much better. Did one a couple of months ago, acrossed the pad of the little finger, nicked the tendon, but the cut was clean enough they glued it together and I really have to look for the scar

I just cut my right index finger with my SAK Camper, cutting some para cord. It happens.. Thank god I haven't cut myself reallllly bad. With all the razor sharp knives I have it's bound to happen eventually!!

A thread like this is always better with pictures! Little cuts help keep you on your toes. They let you know that you were doing something wrong without it being expensive. If you don't pay attention to the little cuts, there will be a big one sooner or later.

Who was it that droped a big fixed blade onto his achilles tendon and severed it clear through?

That kind of negates the sharp knife = better wound theory. A dull one would have stopped at the tendon instead of going through it like buttuh.

agreed this thread needs pics. The above story would be better with pics like these.

This one was from a little bump with a home made knife. I was cutting apples for a group of 2 year olds at church. Went to set the knife down, and the table was at exactly the right height to catch the lanyard on the knife between the corner of the table and my hip. I had a light grip on the knife. Hit bone and severed the nerve. Sprayed blood all over the table and the kiddies kept right on eating their snacks. Still no feeling in half of my thumb, except for right where the cut is, then a bump is like lightning. Of course it had to be the right hand. It is my mag release thumb on my pistols, and it has taken some getting used to for sure.

this is the culprit knife.
