20120425_130419.jpgSo there I was reading about this scrubing method using a stone... well I figured I'd try it out cuz my Bk2 was pretty dull and the wife and I are going to do some backpacking/camping in the hill country in a few days and despite my bad luck or poor timming on my new handles and sheath I wanted to take not being ready yet, at least my knife would be sharp. But ......I f'ed that pooch too, thought you guys might like to see why I don't try new stuff lol

I cannot be the only one who looked at the thumbnail and thought the entire tip had broken off. And for a BK2 that would have been scary.

I don't really see what I'm supposed to, unless you're referring to the big burr-looking thing right in the middle of the cutting edge.

So you rolled the edge? Or the primary bevel at the shoulder? Perhaps a close up will help. But I don't see anything that ain't fixable

If you rounded the shoulder of the bevel, you've just started a nice convex. If you rolled the actual cutting edge, then you just have to knock it off the other side and then work it on some finer stones until it's sharp again. Doesn't look to me like there's a real problem.

whew! panicked there for a minute. thought you'd used a laser-powered, diamond stone with a neutron hammer on it. As for the damages, that'll buff out with a good old fashioned stone, and you can touch up your nice patina with a little vinegar or something. It'll just give you an excuse to play with knives a little more, and that's seldom a bad thing around here.

I'd say broken down for a better rebuild. Fixing it up will make it scary sharp

I was like ''HOW THE HELL DID HE BREAK THE TIP OFF A 2????'' until I clicked the thumbnail.

I thought the same thing. I was like "how the hell...............oh" Looks like a couple more minutes of touch up on that and youd be fine. What kind of stone were you using?

just one that I had in the shop Med to fine it is no longer flat nor anywhere near the same degree as the other side. I do think it needs to be convexed or re profiled now just disgusted with it, I spend more money and time working on it than using it:grumpy:

Send it to me and I'll dispose of it properly! :D

while it was laughing I told it that if it keeps it up I will send it to NOS for a quick lap around his shop .....I think we have a understanding now
