There was a serious fire at my wife's work place and it looks like a four to six week shut down. They get to keep their insurance and not pay anything on it until they start back to work. They also get a paid holiday in there someplace and can draw unemployment until they start up again. The down side is that they won't build up any paid vacation until they start working again.

She can start drawing her SS if that turns out to be the way to go. I know this is off topic but we are kinda family here so I had to vent away.:D Thank god no empolees or fire fighters were injured, that is what really matters.

I think we will come through it without a problem. We have a lot of venison and we can sure go fish now.

Damn! I wish you the best, I hope you have good luck fishing. The eating will be good and it will help keep the mind busy.

Jim,
If sounds like if it were not for bad luck, you would have no luck at all! Last month your truck, and now this. If you need to push back your order, just let me know. Now go fishing and relax!

Thanks John. I think I will be fine with the Sept Order.

My Brother just got back from Lake of the Woods and gave me his fish from there too. He likes to catch them but doesn't eat many.

We thought we were doing pretty good with no lays offs or reduced hours up until now, this sort of thing you just can't plan for. Deer season is coming up in NOV so I can restock the freezer. All of the farmers are in town selling sweet corn, I think we will can a good batch of that. Might have to pickle some fish too.

This has been quite a day, The wife's work place just called and said they have hired a sub contractor to clean and repair the plant, They want to hire 75 of the plant employees to help at their same wage that they were getting SO!! Tomorrow she has to fill out a new application to see if she can get on there. If they go by time on the job, she will have it made, out of 250 employees, she is darn close to the top in time working there. About 12 years. The plant is only about 15 years old.

If you guys didn't have such strict border rules, I'd send you a case of canned tomatoes & veggies! Take care buddy!

Thanks all. There has been quite a turn of events today, She applied to the subcontractor who is doing the clean up and repair, They hired her starting Tuesday for her same wage but with another surprise, Unlimited hours and over time, she can work 12 hours a day, seven days a week or any part of that that she wants. The sub is hiring everyone who was laid off and told them to bring anyone else that wanted to work with them.

Amazing how fast things can turn around. I don't know why the company is going about it like this, I suppose the Subcontractor has all the cleanup tools and equipment that the plant lacks. The plant my wife works at is from Prince Edward Island , if that's the correct name of that Provence. Cavendish Farms They make all kinds of potato products, about a million pounds a day.
