Our new baby daughter was brought to our house this morning. She is four months old. She has the same birth mother as our 13 year old daughter who we adopted at birth. Until the last year we have had little contact with the birth family. A few times a year we would stop by and visit our daughters grandmother at the store where she worked. The baby was in foster care since birth and the family made it known that they wanted us to adopt her. The agency that has the case is different than the one we are licenced with and the family and tribe worked hard to get her into our home. Also in our home we have the sisters who are six and three that have been with us for three and one half years and a little boy that is also four months old . We hope to be able to adopt the three girls by summer. Our oldest daughter came to us from a village nineteen years ago as a pregnant teenager. Her mother was a drug dealer and she had been neglected and abused her whole life. They lived with us for eleven years. She has remained single and with our help done an incredible job of raising her son. He is a senior in high school and hopes to join the Marines in the spring. Our biological daughters each have four young children with another due in July. You could make a movie of all the struggles and miracles that have taken place in our home in the last few years.
At times it has been incredibly hard but when I hold this perfect adorable baby I can only think of the future.
