With my head a little thick from my pre-birthday celebrations last night I figured a trip into the woods was in order !
There had been some big trees recently blown down:
A little dew was still visible:
I decided to give my new ML a little workout:
I then used it to shave up some Cedar bark tinder to take a spark:
A couple of strikes later:
The floor was carpeted with Common Camas, incase some of you have never eaten any before this is what the corm looks like.
Please note that you have to dig these up, if you just try pulling them you will find the corm snaps off and is left underground every time !!!
And here it is peeled. You can see how these would be a great food source in a survival situation eh, very numerous, easy to harvest, edible raw or cooked.
If ya wondering what they taste like the best I can describe is like overcooked white rice...very bland which is better than them tasting horrible eh !
I then needed a sit down.....I am 40 for crying out loud !!!!!
